If God Does Not Exist Can Anything Be Morally Wrong?
Morals serve the social good and can be enforced by society to help ensure its survival, which in turn, helps ensure our survival. To give these morals more authority, they are often said to have been authored by a god/dess or god/desses. However, we do not need this fiction to justify nor enforce these morals. They are largely internalized by each member of the society, so we carry with us a sense of right and wrong, even when out from under the supervision of society. Morals come with what you believe to be right and wrong. but really, you can't prove any of that is right. At least with ethics we can prove conflict, showing that if we don't want conflict, these things must not be allowed. But morals; they're based solely on what we feel. Side: Morals are Subjective
Yes, just as things can be morally right. The presence of a deity is mutually exclusive to the presence of morality. It is not necessary for one to be present to have the other. Rather, it's the point of philosophy to guide us in what is or isn't morally acceptable. Is it possible that God exists? Sure, there is a slim chance that some kind of paranormal being exists. However, that existence doesn't cause morality. It merely portrays, whether or not it exists, a personification of the moral values of the society where the deity is present. Therefore, society is the determining factor on morality, and not God. Side: Morals are Subjective
