If gun control laws don’t keep guns from the lawless, why do we have drug laws?

Laws do work for the government, they create billions in wealth every year by passing stupid laws that oppress it's people. Then where it gets great is that the laws don't apply to them or those who enforce them. There is a great reason for drug laws without them the legal system would lose out on a ton of money. The same will hold true if they can get oppressive gun laws passed. Woo Hoo another way to fleece the public Side: Laws DO work

Punishment was the original, evolved method of prevention, and humans internalize it. As such, laws are more about punishment than prevention. When enough people smoke pot to make everyone decide that pot smokers aren’t so bad, laws against (punishment for) pot smokers change. If people ever decided the same for methheads and crack fiends, the laws would change for them as well. Though there may be reasons that those particular perceptions are less likely to change. I usually don't share this, but I am a drug addict in recovery. My drug of choice is legal, and I want to use right now, but I can't, because I hate being a slave to something other than Jesus. I know what can happen to drug addicts, and that is why I oppose all drug use unless it is for medical reasons. Side: Laws are for snowflakes

Because they're both born from the exact same flawed idea, like prohibition was before them. A ban on alcohol didn't work, a ban on drugs hasn't worked, and a ban on guns won't work. Not to mention the myriad of unintended consequences that go along with all of these terrible measures. Side: Laws are for snowflakes
