If the suspect is to be convicted, a person is in the position of weakness, i.e faces the punishment for a crime which that person may/may not have convicted. But by letting the person walk away, nobody gets punished. Though we might not have punished the criminal, we've stayed away from punishing a possibly innocent person. To risk a possibly innocent person doesn't seem rational just cause we want to punish the right offender. Side: No.
