If religion makes you happier should psychologists prescribe it to patients?

Actively religious people are more likely than their less-religious peers to describe themselves as “very happy”

Hello bront:

One COULD say that a belief in a magical sky daddy is the epitome of being NUTS.. You don't CURE a disorder by recommending another disorder..

It's really funny to observe someone who claims Trump is "innocent" of Obstruction of Justice while 500 learned Judges say he is OBVIOUSLY GUILTY, and he (they) turn(s) around and calls others "STUPID"! He (they) claim 97% of the worlds scientists are wrong …. and they call others "STUPID". He (they) claim(s) to be a "patriot", while he (they) reject(s) every part of the Constitution … except the parts they can read in a justifying (twisted) way …. and they call the majority of Americans STUPID! He (they) follow, religiously, those conspiracy theorists and support white nationalists while he (they) call other Americans stupid! There IS no cure for THAT kind of MENTAL DISORDER THEY are GIFTED WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm, actually it's NOT funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (But it IS REALLY SUPER STUPID!) :-)

If a person is already religious, it may be reasonable for a psychologist to recommend greater involvement with their church.

If you need something to believe in because you are going through something incredibly difficult in life, they should offer it as an option to explore. It's better than just plowing a patient with mood altering medicines. Whether they continue to be religious or it just isn't their thing, it may help during a time they need it the most.

After my first wife died a Psychiatrist recommended religion for me. I said I couldn't believe in religion. He then recommended mysticism. I tried the Rosicrucians for a while, interesting, but still not my bag. I pulled myself out of the problem after a short while. One has to do what one has to do. If you can believe, and need it, go for it. To me, it just doesn't …. compute.

I said NOTHING about being "victimized". Your understanding of the English language is STILL at the early grammar school level, but, keep trying. You're bound to make progress someday! If you'd spend more time reading … instead of rolling on the floor (with the rest of the kids), I'm SURE you could improve! Then again, maybe not …………….. ;-)
