If someone you loved romantically committed a murder, would you rat this person out?

If someone you love committed murder, would you rat that person out to the police? Or would you protect this person because you love this person and don't want to lose this person for the rest of your life?

In my opinion, i wouldn't rat this person out.

Id like to think that I would, but its easy to say when you're not in a situation like that.

May I ask why?

Why I would rat him out, or why I'm not sure how I would react in the given situation?

Side: Yes

I agree with you there. Protecting the person you love would question your morality and that is tough. Other people might start disliking you for protecting a murderer.

Yes exactly. There are also other factors to consider, many murderers are psychopaths or sociopaths. There are so many cases where these kinds of people have manipulated everyone around them to protect and defend them. It sounds ridiculous to me of course, but I mean... I don't know myself enough to say whether I would be able to stay sane if someone played me like that.

Not necessarily. There are a number of moral modals that might actually justify not reporting them, or at least not necessitate it. Nor am I sure that it should matter under most moral models that others dislike you (not that it's given that they would know either).

As much as I hate to say it, it depends on who he murdered. Did he kill someone who was hurting my children or a family member? Did he just randomly target someone who is completely innocent? It may be disgusting to say and it makes me question myself but it depends on the circumstances.

It depends. Generally yes, because I don't believe in committing murder, nor would I want to be punished as an accomplice. But consider:

1) Do I believe the murder was in self defense even though that would be hard to prove to authorities?

2) Do I believe they did it to protect someone else we love (such as did they kill a sex predator down the street because they though that was the only sure way to make sure our children wouldn't be abused or killed)?

3) Do I believe the person they killed did an unthinkable crime against the loved one who killed them (such as was it a priest who abused them but likely would not be stopped or held accountable)?

4) Do I believe it was a mercy killing (such as removing someone from life support because they never wanted to be kept alive as a vegetable or in long term pain suffering)?

5) Or simply do I only suspect they did it but have no proof and they claim they didn't? Because there is no point in me going on record if all I have is a hunch and they're doing a great job of denying it to me and the whole world.

But other than examples like above, generally yes, I would report a murderer, for the good of society.

I'd fuck her so hard and say 'take it you filthy murderer'

So the person who comes to mind for me is my fiance, Robyn.

And I would have to say, "No"--I would never turn her in to the cops. For ANYthing she did. I love her and hate cops. This is a huge no-brainer for me.
