@Hootie The countries in the Middle East that the US (and others) have taken part in overwhelmingly do not have anything analogous to the Police Force we have here in the US. The US is functioning as a foreign police force in the area, which is both welcomed and despised, depending on the people. Average, normal people who live there do not want ISIS, the Taliban, etc. in their hometowns, or backyards--though, lack the means to rid them. Again, there are people who are happy to see the "police" and people who hate the "police"--much like it is here, though turned up significantly, due to; (1) there is greater evil there, since it lacks the formal, dominant legal structure of here (the US) (2) it is a foreign, military force, which is enacting partial martial law. Now, this is not to say the US should or should not have went to Iraq, or what foreign military policy should be at the moment. Rather, to unpack what you are stating, slightly more thoroughly.
