Read this scripture...

Matthew 4:5-7 Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’”

God clearly tells us to re-frame from deliberately doing dangerous things, and testing God's protection.

I'm Protestant and believe the newest Pope is starting to head down this slippery slope of political correctness, so I am no fan, but have no problem when he does not test God.

Because having faith doesn't mean being stupid with your life. Anyone who has ever has dealings with other people knows there are fanatics in the world, where violence is more often then not the only answer two arguing factions can agree on. Just because one preaches the word of God and of peace, doesn't mean they won't be attacked by someone else looking to prove a point or gain notoriety. Being a focal point for religion and the religious also paints a large target on the back.
