If the world's going to end in 12 years, we don't need free college for all Hello N: You've read my Medicare for all plan, haven't you?? I also have the solution for Global Warming with a solution for the energy problem thrown in.. Truly, I'm NOT especially smart, so I dunno WHY everybody doesn't see this stuff.. In any case, here it is. A little background first.. When I was a kid, we used to throw our trash on the ground.. I guess we did that because we had SOOO much ground we thought nobody would notice.. But, when the trash started piling up, we noticed. When I was in the Navy, we threw our trash into the ocean, I guess because we had SOOO much ocean, a little trash won't hurt.. But, it did hurt, so we stopped doing that. These days, we're throwing our trash into atmosphere, I guess because we have SOOO much atmosphere, that we think a little bit of trash won't hurt.. But, it DOES hurt.. Put a pin in that. Fossil fuel is FINITE.. That's just so.. Unbelievably, there ARE people who think it's endless.. I guess people who believe that think the earth is SOOOO big, that we simply CANNOT run out.. Snicker snicker.. Excuse me.. I had to do that.. So, if we SOLVE the running out of oil problem, the Global Warming problem will be SOLVED too.. Cause if we DON'T solve the running out of oil problem, we'll ALL be living in Yurts.. So, I say throw EVERYTHING at it.. I'm talking about a Manhattan Project style of endeavor. I think fusion is our best hope, but what do I know? I recently read about some sort of solar shield that'll solve our energy needs FOREVER. Truly, if we don't solve that problem, we're outta gas - literally.. So, there ya go - a TWOFER.. You're welcome.. excon Side: Crazy wack

The argument is not that the world is ending.... It's that in 12 years 50% of CO2 emissions must be cut in order to prevent the worst effects of climate change (like more intense hurricanes, colder winters, mass desertification, etc). Once that window is closed the effects of climate change are irreversible and irreparable. Humans WILL still survive if the goal is not met, but it will cause massive starvation and mass migration as an altered environment and raising sea levels will make food crops less viable on earth. Just to clarify, she really did say that along with also saying that global warming was like this generations WWII. I give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was just using hyperbole on both instances. I would like to argue that she is mostly right, as climate change is devastating to all life on earth.
