If we could find some DNA from Jesus, should we clone him?

Lets get him stoned.

Let's clone several dozen, place the infant Christs to be raised by different families of different religious / political / cultural / socioeconomic backgrounds in different parts of the world, and see what they all do.

And let's film it and make it a reality show.

OK, that response was so JC I had to put away our differences and up vote you. I mean, I actually lol. Look me up when you get to the underworld. I know I'll be there ;)

yes i want to see what he looked like and I want to see ppl get upset and fight over him. Actually make hundreds of him and all of the religions that believe he has any significance can each have one. Oh sick, they could form little armies lead by their jesus clones and battle it out! I like where this is going.

oh and btw i think the term is "months behind dot com." This was done before (around easter i think.)

Assuming Jesus was an actual person to begin with, isn't there supposed to be a second coming? Does the bible specify that the second coming has to be scientifically inexplicable?

Side: Yes, just to see what happens

Yes, there's a second coming of the late JC. The thing is that there's also supposed to be an anti-Christ. So..., will the clone be the second coming or the anti-Christ? And there lies the crux of the problem ;)

Either way, if we do clone him, we better have a cross ready.... I'm just saying.... just in case ;)

"we better have a cross ready"

You say that like the cross is some sort of Jesus-kryptonite...

Although now that you mention, it's better that than a 100ft tall Jesus running amok in downtown Tokyo.

we should clone him and force him to teach us how to change water into wine and how to make stronger marijuana

teach us how to change water into wine and how to make stronger marijuana.

There is no proof that he had magical powers, but for the sake of the argument lets say he did. If he taught us how to change water into booze and how to make stronger weed, all that would do is raise a generation of alcohol and drug addicts.

Yes. But we must remember that we would have one third of God's DNA. The missing pieces we could fill in with frog DNA, and then we can clone God, and get three wishes.

If we had his DNA we should clone him several times. Just6 to what happens. Man must know whether God exists or not. If you had DNA from Jesus that would bring many questions both for God's existence and agaist God's existence; that kind of question is too important to be left unanswered.

I'm not so sure cloning humans is the greatest idea..... Could lead to a lot of confusion and "clone rivalry", meaning clones of one person might become jealous that the original person gets to relax while the clones work. Regardless, cloning humans doesn't sound great, especially if you're talking about Jesus.

Side: No, that might be bad

Yeah but we would be cloning a Deity. And yeah, we may end up with a jealous anti-Christ who's pissed of as hell and.... OK, you're right. That would be bad ;)

No when Jesus wants to come back to our world he will return and no sooner than that

There's a point where curiosity becomes perversion. I'm pretty sure that even if he turned out to be a normal guy, the riots and turmoil that would ensue would be catastrophic. People tend to take things seriously.

I'd tolerate riots, if it would simply put the matter to rest. Besides, we already have religious riots and conflicts, in part because there's a lot of doubt as to the authenticity of "Jesus".

If we cloned him (still curious as to how we'd be sure it's his DNA) and he turned out to be a regular guy, then maybe those damned Jehovah's Witnesses will stop knocking on my door. On the flip side, if he turns out to be some sort of magical wonder-man, then at least we have proof.

i go against because...

we must not disturb the after death life of the great people from their DNA.

We know that we are trying something good, But i think it is of no use...

Because if he is god, then he must live in the hearts of the people

My dog had something living in its heart. But we gave him some pills and the problem cleared right up.
