If you are having sex before marriage...

What do you think the appropriate age should be?

Sixteen or older

Side Score: 9
VS.

Eighteen or older

Side Score: 3

I don't think there's any "appropriate" age. I have friends who lost it at 12, 15, 19, who are still virgins in their 20s, and while losing your virginity at age 12 may not be ideal, I don't really feel it's my place to judge people's actions or to decide what's right for them.

It truly depends on the person. I think the best rule of thumb is to wait until you are ready to deal with the possible consequences because no method of contraception is 100%.

Well you can get your drivers license so after you have sex you can have the decency of driving your partner home. Plus you would most likely be a junior in high school (11th grade) so you need something to help you survive the most stressful year of your life, so why not a partner whom you can fall in love with and have relations with?

Why does my tag say "Peterson is a MONSTER"? This makes no sense to me, I chose the tag that said "16 or older".

Actually I had to change the numbers to letters! It seem CD does funny things when one uses numbers. It's changed now.

Historically kids started experimenting sexually well before pueberty with eachother,

it's normal at that young age for the sexes to have not yet developed an attraction to eachother, and more likely the experimentation would be between friends of the same sex but there doesn't seem to be a sexual preference in the sense a developed person has a preference.

This is still common in many cultures dotting Africa and South America. In particular a tribe in the rain forests of South America is set up where adult males, adult females, and the children each live separately, they have no sense of a commited relationship, and little idea of who's child came from which father. Raising them is a group effort, every child is every adult's child.

Here children regularly begin experimenting with eachother at a very young age, little is thought of it, and in that society it seems to have little negative effect on their development.

The point of all of that is,

while in our society we've found it beneficial to wait,

young children curious with eachother (key word eachother, adults doing anything with children in no society and in no time in the history of humans as far as we know has ever been condoned, and it causes serious trama to a child),

while it should be discouraged, and kids caught in the act should be separated calmly and told calmly not to do that, it should not be demonized. It's the demonization that seems to lead to problems later in life, the act itself seems natural from an anthropological stance.

So I really believe that it should calmly (I cannot stress that enough, screaming and invoking the name of god and hellfire and whatever makes everything worse) be discouraged in any child before pueberty.

But I think anytime after pueberty is okay between eachother as long as they have learned about safe sex, other people's feelings, etc.

It's really none of your business what that person does with their life. And their virginity isn't any different. Mind your own damn business people. If you lost it at 12 I don't care. Just as long as you aren't going on about it to everyone.

Side: Sixteen or older

I personally think you should be well out of high school and into college before delving into and experimenting with sexual feelings. It's a part of breaking free as one does when one enters college and away from the mores of the home one came from. In any case, and no matter what one decides, safe sex is the best sex!

There is no appropriate age. I only feel that if you're going to lose your virginity you should, at the very least, do it to someone you truly love rather than the school whore or a prostitute or something. Also, I think it'd be best for both parties that you both be fully mature both sexually and mentally. 12 is way way way too young. Ew.

There is no magic age. You first have to recognize that your tastes and dislikes change over time. You then have to know what it is that you like (and that comes with time). I thought I knew at 27. I didn't start to figure it out until after 39.
