If you can copyright idea's, then why cant you copyright word's?
When people have a good idea for a new product, then they copyright it so other people cant steal the idea.
Then why oh why cant you copyright words, because its not like anyone owns them to make sure you cant use them otherwise we would all be in prison for speaking.
So why cant I copyright any words, because if I could then I would copyright the word "and" then people cant say it and then i would rule the world! MWHAHAHAHAHA... I went to far.

You can copyright words, only ones you've invented, much the same as with ideas. For example, "Coca Cola" is a registered trademark. You can't just copyright words that are part of the common lexicon, as they are communally owned public property, as it were. 307 days ago | Side: If you can copyright idea's, then why cant you copyright word's?
If an idea is too basic (and that anyone could come up with it) then often you are not allowed to copyright it. For example the telescope originally wasn't copyrighted by the inventors as it was deemed to simple. However, on the subject of words, if you copyright a word that means you control who's allowed to use it. Thus, if all the words in the English language (and other languages respectively) were copyrighted then people would just invent there own words and standard English would fall to peices. 307 days ago | Side: If you can copyright idea's, then why cant you copyright word's?
