If you're UNINSURED, and you get cancer, can you get CHEMOTHERAPY at your local ER?

"The first thing you need to do is find out what hospitals and medical centers provide treatment to the uninsured in your area. Every region has hospitals operated by state and local government (public hospitals) as well as some nonprofit hospitals that provide a safety net for anyone who needs care, regardless of ability to pay."

"If you have breast or cervical cancer, there are additional resources mandated under the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Act of 2000. This legislation extended Medicaid coverage for women who have been screened and diagnosed through the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program in states that have agreed to provide this service"

I believe there are federal and state programs to provide some element of cancer treatment to uninsured people. It's not comprehensive and it has a poverty line cut off, so probably won't apply to everyone.

More specifically, ER's are required to treat people until they can be discharged. It would likely stand to reason that the ER would provide Chemo over a period of weeks and then be discharged.

The issue of insurance vs not-insurance is not solely about not receiving treatment, and it is naive to paint it this way.

Studies do show that the uninsured have a much higher mortality rate than those with insurance. This somewhat stands to reason: when money is a primary concern, you're likely to put off an ER visit for minor or niggling symptoms, and you're also likely not to have generalized at-risk health screenings (though this is not necessarily great either).

Other risk factors, such as financial stress, poverty and the like muddy the waters a little bit more: complicated even further by some studies of medicaid seeming you to have lower mortality to (though this is actually easily explained by a number of factors explained below).

I've watched multiple people go through chemotherapy. They all chose to opt out, and it didn't take long. What are you looking for Con, to extend your life into the radiation and chemo drug torture stage? What the hell for? You demand the right to die a miserable, painful, and worse death? Of course you do. Next you'll be demanding we let Jihadists into the country, that we acknowledge 58 new genders, and that we take healthcare from 100 million to save 20 million. Oh wait...

Well, it's amusing to note that as well as believing in various shades of political nonsense you also subscribe to psuedomedical quackery.

Why is it that so many people seem to think that if they happen to hold one stupid belief they must completely abandon their sense of reason and believe in a bevy of other nonsense as well?

There is not one community hospital in America that can refuse treatment to anyone and why because they receive Federal Funds.

You know about as much about healthcare as Barack Obama !!!!!!!!!!!!

The bevy of nonsense lands in the Lap of the Left. So Leftist if a uninsured gunshot victim in Chicago is transported to the ER will that gunshot victim get treatment ?

I'm sure there are exceptions where states have programs and are able to help out. But those are exceptions. Heck, if it was all as simple as just show up at the ER and you'll be fully taken care of then we'd all be already doing that.

There are only so many resources and we can only stretch them so far. The question is do we even attempt to stretch them to the needy, or, do we simply give up on stretching to cover a huge swath of the population just so those not worried about paying for their health coverage can have more spare cash to go buy things?
