If you are where you are solely because of your country, than anyone or everyone would be in the same position by virtue of the fact that they live in the same country.
As an adult, you are the primary cause of your condition (for most). If you are well off, be thankful the country protected the rights you needed to get where you are, but know that you did it. If you are not well off, be thankful the country protects the rights needed to get there one day, but know it is you who has to do it.

What complete BS. Are you one of those people who just never grew up and learned how the world really works? How is it possible that you can be so ignorant?
Let me tell you who blames the homeless for being homeless, the hungry for being hungry and the dead for being dead. Douchebags. That's who.
Character attract rather than thoughtful rebuttal. Who would have predicted that from you,
I've been homeless, poor, and hungry. Have you? As this isn't about me or you, or who you'll pretend to be, I have digressed.
My statements come from experience in the real world, not from ignorance. Your statements, as always, come from the frustration that accompanies your intellectual impotence. Otherwise you could make a real point.

In many cases the ones claiming the homeless choose to be homeless are? The homeless. Google it and come back with your findings.
But... let's go with your logic instead. If there are people choosing to not be homeless everywhere, shouldn't we help them out and get them off the streets before taking more immigrants from say, Pakistan? Ya know, the whole "getting your priorities in order" thing. Kind of like grown ups do. Your family first. Strangers second...
I didn't say anything about black athletes racist. I said that if you get paid millions to play a game, you should be grateful. Why would you assume that by "athlete" I was referring to black athletes? I can think of one reason.
Don't take this to mean the player isn't responsible for all the practice and hard work it takes to play games well. But your a millionaire for a game. Yeah, be grateful.
I think I get what you are saying but I don't necessarily agree with it.
I DO think if you are going to get anywhere in life you need to fight tooth and nail for it. I genuinely dislike the term "white privilege" because it not only bushes off every single time I've had to fight to get something, it lessens my efforts and gives some people a casual excuse to blame others for not getting what they want in life....even if that something wasn't fought for.
That being said, there is a problem in this country with racial profiling. There really is. To what extent? I don't honestly know. The news gives us so much bad it's almost a knee-jerk reaction to think racism when we don't always have all the facts.
I have been given some opportunities through this country to be where I am, but I have gotten a ton of bumps, brushes and broken nails along the way as I've fought for it and I've had to make smart'ish decisions and sacrifices. I've also been held back because of something I have no control over, and that's when I've fought the hardest. I'd say, even if you are self-made, regardless of race, it's a combination of what's been provided and what's been fought for.
I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. As the primary cause of your own condition, you cannot choose the other variables in life, but you choose how to interact with them. In other words, you don't choose the cards you're dealt, but you choose how to play the hand. This seems to be what you are saying, and it fits with what I have said.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say we think racism. Do you mean we jump to a racist conclusion; or do you mean we jump to racism as a conclusion?
Concerning racial profiling, can you tell me the nature of the problem in this country?
you don't choose the cards you're dealt, but you choose how to play the hand.
That's a very good way to sum it up. What I suggest is that some dealers stack the hand in favor of others. Sorry I may not have the best analogies with poker or card games.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say we think racism. Do you mean we jump to a racist conclusion; or do you mean we jump to racism as a conclusion?
I'm not 100% certain that those two are mutually exclusive.
I have to think of a better answer when I get the time so let me hold off on clarifying that for the moment.
Concerning racial profiling, can you tell me the nature of the problem in this country?
Do you believe there isn't? I'm not trying to dodge I would like to see what your thoughts are on this.
I do believe there is a problem, but I don't know to what extent since all we hear from the media is bad, bad, bad. But if you look at the bigger picture, I don't think it's AS bad as they want us to believe.
With personal discussions to friends on Facebook I do know there are some who believe in "white privilege" and chuck that term out anytime someone white says something that could be even remotely contradictory towards what that particular persons stance is. Like that's the end all to anything. But thankfully those people are fewer than others who are open to dialogue and understand there are more sides than just theirs.
*Let me clarify something because I've been hit on this before, when I say "you" I don't necessarily mean you as the person of focus, it is more "you- anyone boiled down to one person"
Do you believe there isn't? I'm not trying to dodge I would like to see what your thoughts are on this.

I do believe there is a problem of racial disharmony in this country. I believe that media you are referring to is one of the problems. There’s a problem with what is covered most, and the way the information is presented. The media will hit on one story and push it on you day after day for a week as if there is nothing else going on in the world. The news makes sure to let you know, if a black person did something horrible or great, remember they are black. They make sure to let you know a cop was white if the other person was not. The news always presents race as if it is a relevant variable to a given situation, when most often it is not.
The movement for racial equality used to focus on the content of one’s character, not the color of their skin. Individuals took personal responsibility for their own conduct because race is not a relevant variable. When society wrongly wanted to act like race was a relevant variable, then individuals of all colors had something to say about it. If someone said that your opinion is invalidated by the color of your skin, that someone was the racist enemy to be combated. How society views your race is supposed to be just one small card in your hand, that used to be the goal. Now that card is all we talk about.
American Education and American Media are the vehicles of racial disharmony, and it’s all fueled by confirmation bias. Education creates it, and the Media capitalizes on it. Everyone feels they’ve been unjustly ticketed. Black people are told it’s because of their race. We’ve all seen videos of police misconduct, but we never assume the cop is just an unprofessional jerk if the victim is black, we assume he is racist. When a cop shoots a suspect, you probably won’t hear about it, because the suspect is usually white. If the suspect is black, there is a whole generation of people who have been told that his race is the reason for his death. You will hear about it because cities will burn.
If people are told that racism is everywhere, they will see racism in everything. I don’t mean to say that racism is nowhere, but let’s not loose perspective.
I'd take credit and then say my country sucks. Then I'd move to Pakistan and become rich there to prove it...
But seriously, did they do it on their own? Yep. How? Hard work meeting a country of opportunity.
According to Obama they didn't do it on their own. "You didn't build that." as he so politely told anyone of success. Of course then, he now takes over a million dollars in money and perks annualy and lives high on the hog without flipping a dime to his brothers and sisters... but whatever...
I don't understand why they can't be grateful for both? Neither the individual nor the conditions created by the country accomplished it all in a vaccuum.
Oh no. You don't get out of this conundrum that easy. Either your country gives you everything you have ever had, or you are single handedly and solely responsible for it, just like every other Crusoe around.
Yeah, well you're one of the few in here who can truly hand my @ss to me in a debate so I automatically assumed you were serious and you thought you had me over a barrel.
Sorry. And I appreciate it. If you look at my post elsewhere, it's similar to yours in that it's not strictly one or the other. That's just how it's always framed which is what I intended to make fun of.
You should just be grateful. It's not good to take too much pride in the self. God gives grace to the humble, but resists the proud.
I'm grateful that God made me the way I am. If God made me another way, I'd be grateful too. God made me this way, so I should be grateful, and not be envious.
In 1,000 years they may be asking, "If your hair is red and you get rich, should you be grateful to your country, or grateful for yourself?"
As long as you believe in these races, racism isn't going to go away.
Definition of "race" courtesy of merriam-webster
"a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics"
So who determines what "shared interests, habits, or characteristics" determine someone's race?
Race was made up by THE MAN to keep us all DOWN. The people who come up with this stuff think of all people as cattle. They don't care what color skin you are. They care about their formulas syncing with what is going on in their environment.
Woah, institutionalized racism.
Hey, if the government isn't supposed to discriminate based on race, sex, or any of these things, why is it that they ask these questions on all government forms?
They use this information and use it to improve their marketing.. er.. propaganda... er.. indoctrination? Shift towards totalitarian control? Yeah, they use this information for something.
Like being racist.
But nah, ya'll can keep on filling out them government paper works, answering every single one of the questions they ask. Go on, tell them everything. While you are at it, live your whole life though a computer screen or a smart phone and just let them collect everything about yourself. Voluntarily give all this information out!
Of course they are using this information. They use this information to control everyone. Who are THEY?
I dunno. Probably what you find in the aisle where they stock the cheeze whiz at the grocery store.
