Imprinsoning Any Individual for Any Reason Is Inhumane

It is never acceptable to lock up a human being; other methods of imparting penalty upon criminals ought to be considered rather than imprisonment.

We should do the humane thing and just put them out of their misery.

I feel like violent crime should still be handled with lock-ups. And even theft.

mainly because they're a danger to other individuals (and have made it a clear case by causing personal harm to another.)

But a large percentage of the people we lock-up are for very unjustifiable reasons. Being a prostitute or drug peddler shouldn't be grounds for treating you like an animal.

What are the other methods you talk of? What would you do to a murderer or a rapist? Let him roam around free?

If we, as a society, cannot agree on a universal morality, then any decisions made by the government must be done to solely protect the public. No matter how inhumane you may think it is, unless the majority of people agree with you, then the public's safety is priority. Therefore, if imprisonment is the best solution (regarding the public), then it must be the action taken.
