In a one on one war who would win, USA or China?
This war would include no alies what so ever, only these two countries. For the sake of logic i will say that nukes are a utter and only LAST resort, and even then its a stretch.
Consider geography and current military positions such as where current navy and ground forces are, and so on.
Please give proper answers, no "USA/China would definetly win and that is that!" i'm looking for the hows and whys thankyou.
I appreciate every response to this and hope you find this question to youre taste.

It would depend on who is attacking who's mainland. Whoever invades the other is almost the sure loser. However, if the US would bring its entire Naval fleet and Air Force and just parked itself off the coast and bombed China from the air and sea, then the US would have a distinct advantage. A ground war would be a disaster though. Side: USA would win.

China has a massive population of recruits and military hardware but they barely have enough food for their own people, let alone fund a war. Combined by the pollution of their air, corrupted government and poor quality supplies, I doubt that their soldiers can cope up with their strategies. Horde tactics are brutal and effective but only for a short time. It demands plenty of supplies and healthy troops otherwise it will backfire Side: USA would win.

Nukes will be blown up before they even get over the ocean. We can easily take them out with laser guided systems. And still even if they attack first we would easily take there ships out and planes out before they even get near the USA. It takes one smart bomb to below up a ship or plane or tank or nuke. Side: USA would win.

This seems to be an overly optimistic assessment. Our anti-missile technology isn't nearly as effective and reliable as this. Certainly, a single missile could easily be dealt with, but we wouldn't be talking about a single missile if it got to the point of nuclear weapons; who is going to launch a single nuke when they know the other side has nukes as well? A single nuke, while horrific in the area, would do little to blunt the overall military capabilities of the US in the short term (no matter where it was targeted!) and would only invite retaliation. If nukes were to be used, I only see them used at a very large scale in an attempt to cripple our ability to retaliate. Consider this: 1) Stealth technology used on cruise missiles, reducing our ability to detect them in time to intercept. 2) Decoy missiles to increase the number of targets to intercept 3) Military activity in support of the missiles; intercepting the interceptors If China were to escalate first, act quickly, and apply all three of these, it would be all but impossible to stop all or even the majority of the missiles. The same applies to us if we were to escalate first. If it comes to nukes, both countries are probably pretty well screwed. Side: USA would win.
