Is Christian Bashing the New Hate Speech in America?

I see it online and offline it seems that no other faith is in the spotlight then Christianity.

Than* Christianity. And its because if any other is attacked, they feel they'd be accused of Nazism or racism.

Way I see it, they're all subject to intense scrutiny and negative perlustration. If such religious sects wish to be so open about their attitudes, they should learn to accept resistance and objection. But really, what I'm saying here is nothing new, and could have been just as easily found on a blog somewhere. Still, I suppose its a tad more original than the usual crap!

And Christians been gay, black, women, Jew bashing for the last 2000 years, now you motherfuckers are the victims LOL, go to hell.

It's nice to see you on this side and the only thing you are wrong about me is that I am a victor.

So, you aren't a victim? So, Christian bashing isn't happening?

Yeah it basically is. Nobody else bashes other beliefs in America because I've noticed a lot of it towards Christianity.

I'm not really surprised that people are bashing Christians.

After all it says in Matthew 5:11-12, "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

So don't worry about it Silas!

That is complete BS. Fox bashes liberals and socialists, MSN bashes conservatives. People of ambiguous Middle-Eastern ethnicity have been attacked and killed (sometimes BY Christians) for "looking Muslim". Feminists get bashed, and so do people who espouse gender roles. Vegetarians and vegans get called "tree-huggers" and meat eaters are the "cause of animal suffering".

EVERYONE has their beliefs challenged....and that is a good thing. That is how people grow. How society progresses from one stage to the next.

You can play the victim if you want, but it shows how blind and self-centered and ignorant you are. In America, Christians are the dominant majority. All of our presidents have believed in God and the majority were Christian.

THERE ARE MORE CHRISTIANS IN AMERICA THAN ANY OTHER FORM OF BELIEF. And you have the audacity to have a persecution complex.

I know you are young, but grow the heck up, man.

Nobody else bashes other beliefs in America [...]

Are you serious? Try being an atheist or nihilist in this country.

Or a Muslim. They get it pretty hard in the US. You would be hard pressed to find much political persecution against christians in the US but Muslims get it from high up power players. Heck even other religious groups attempt to infringe on Muslims rights or rally against them, the ACLJ tried to block a group of Muslims from erecting a place of worship.

It's hard out here for a nihilist.

I love the way you answer debates with so much truth and you get bashed for it. It proves that you are right because of all the red buttons you push. Keep up the great work Scom.

So much truth? He stated that Christians are the only belief in America that gets "bashed". That is demonstrably false.

It proves that you are right because of all the red buttons you push

People explaining to you how you are wrong is proof that you are right? How does that work?

You need to stop encouraging and saying false statements. You guys can't complain that Christians are the only people who get bashed. Everyone gets bashed.

Thanks Silas. At least someone supports me on this site. Unlike some people around here.

First of all, many of the users arguing no seem to think the question is implying "Christian Bashing" is the only form of hat speech in America. That is definitely not true, but it is not what we are arguing. I think it is true that "Christian Bashing" is the trendiest form of hate speech. For some reason, it i considered acceptable to ridicule the beliefs of this religion, solely because it is the most widespread.

The only person who said that was the Christian who was complaining.

One Christian did.

That actually seems to be the common theme in this debate.

Christian bashing is hate speech, yet it's not the new, or most popular form. It's been around for virtually as long as other religions besides Christianity have been around.

I'm assuming OP is a Christian. Well I'm sorry to tell you this but your religion isn't the only one being targeted for criticism.

This is more or less exactly what I was going to say. Very nearly word for word.

You've heard of Islam, right?

"To criticize a person for their race is manifestly irrational and ridiculous, but to criticize their religion, that is a right. That is a freedom. The freedom to criticize ideas-even if they are sincerely held beliefs-is one of the fundamental freedoms of society. A law which attempts to say you can criticize and ridicule ideas as long as they are not religious ideas is a very peculiar law indeed." -Rowan Atkinson

To me, it's just imagination running wild. It can equate to that war on Christmas. There is no such thing as that war on Christmas.
