Yes, indeed. In what context do you mean, though? Is it the creation aspect or some other nonsense in there?

It is a genuine fairytale.

It is a means to an end

When we crawled out of the cave and evolved from being hunter gatherers to gaining skills as horticulturists and in animal husbandry, we evolved, lived in communities and became dependent upon nature etc etc for the sustainability of our existence and so over time we created religion through this dependence. The first step was to probably give offerings to some symbol of creation and this symbolism eventually developed into a more cultural example when we created gods, e.g. Egyptian god of wisdom - Isis, Greek gods Demeter - for corn and grain, Diana for wild things, hunting etc etc etc and not last or least in a long line of religions around the globe we created Christianity.

Religions have given people who believe in them a reason for their existence and created a collective group of like minded people who strive for common goals - in theory that is.....?

There s a lot in the religion. It's just too easy - all u gotta do is ask for forgiveness. The religion doesn't explain things that we know today.

At least no more than any other religion. There isn't a "god" that has shown itself over millions of years. As Richard Dawkins said: "We are ALL atheists about most of the gods of humanity, some of us just take it one "god" farther."

Some have claimed to be a "god", NONE have been able to prove it ... and anyone who said they were, has died.

"When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When MANY suffer from a delusion, it's called religion." Robert Persig

Well said. It is characteristic of the coward to attack only the easy targets such as the ''turn the other cheek'' Christians. Do we hear the same low lives scoffing at the nonsense of Islam? Of course not, like all yellow bellied bullies the filth like to cast their aspersions on a target which won't trace them and then hack their heads off. All religions are man made baloney and their weak minded followers are to be pitied and not scorned.
