Most people need direction and will follow the dogma of the person/party that presents the most persuasive political argument.

The weakness lies in the fact that, to a greater or lesser extent, all politicians are liars and cheats and will maximize the advantages of their declared political goals while omitting to explain the actual and potential downsides.

A classic example of this is highlighted in the nightmare which is Brexit.

The electorate were fed a constant stream of anti-E.U., propaganda and how leaving Europe would solve all the U.K's., problems.

The naive, non-thinking, gung ho nationalists swallowed the false, one sided rhetoric and are now realizing that a no deal Brexit will be an economic catastrophe.

The poor old Brits are now recognising that they will have to accept the humiliation of the E.U's., conditions for a deal or crash out of the free trade zone with all the disastrous implications this will involve.

Say a prayer for all the poor Brits who, as a result of heeding their lying politician's B.S., and the fake news of the ultra right wing press, are about to be taught a lesson in the price of arrogance and outdated nationalism
