Is Ellen Degeneres being hypocritical?
Dr. Michael Brown has addressed what he believes to be a hypocritical comment on tolerance made by talk show host Ellen Degeneres. In the clip, Ellen is asked whether she would have President Trump on her show. She says no.
"No. Because I'm not gonna change his mind. He's against everything I stand for," says Ellen. However, she continues to put out a message of tolerance and coming together even if you disagree with one another. "Do you see a slight contradiction there?" asks Brown. She saying "I won't sit with him, because I totally differ with him. And we have to learn to be able to sit with people we differ with."
It's about being consistent in your beliefs and actions.
If ellen wants to profess tolerance towards other people regardless of their views, then be intolerant towards Trump for the same reason, that is the definition of being hypocritical.
Of course she's a total hypocrite as are most Liberals.
So I guess if Liberals believe they will never change the mind of another person, they might as well be intolerant of the other's beliefs and diversity.
I guess the determining factor for Liberals to when we deserve tolerance and inclusiveness, is if we can be indoctrinated to their politcal correct ideology.
If not, NO DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT ALLOWED, NO INCLUSIVENESS, NO OPEN MINDEDNESS TOWARDS OUR BELIEFS.
A Conservative's voice willl be censored from our pubic arena because elite Liberals want to cover the ears of the audience. They will not allow dissenting opinions to be heard!
You must be willing to succumb to our ideology to be heard. This is Hollywood's censorship of entertainers who do not tow the PC line. You will not get that part in the movie. You will not get that late night host if you are not Liberal in thought. Your hit Comedy show will be cancelled if you express Conservative thought.
Who does this sound like? ISIS gives people a chance to bow to their religious extremism or be killed!

I would be happy to be tolerant of Trump, if only he would do something I can tolerate! I'm sure Ellen feels the same way, I've watched her for years. She doesn't like to be intolerant to ANYBODY, but, along comes Trump .... he gives you little choice. THAT'S not being hypocritical. When something is intolerable it's natural to be intolerant!
You're obviously new here. I'm FAR more tolerant than many, even MOST on CD. I'm an Atheist. I not only tolerate religion, I tolerate ALL religion. What I do not tolerate is when THEY wont tolerate ME and tell me I'm going to burn in hell because their religion lays down the rules! I do not "like" religion, I tolerate ALL religions. I don't, for instance, say all Muslims are bad, I don't say ALL Christians are bad. I have a Baptist daughter, a Catholic daughter, Catholic aunt, Baptist mother, a "believing" wife, I have nothing against Nativity Scenes, etc. (just think they should be kept on corresponding religious property).
If that's hypocritical, I subscribe to a different definition. There are several more intolerant religious characters on here than I am.
Then there's Trump.....As I said, he has given me little I can tolerate, and to do so WOULD make me a hypocrite.
No, I am NOT crazy. I WOULD be crazy if I said I was tolerant of everything and everybody! I was using religion as a f'rinstance. I AM tolerant of everybody regardless of their views, but, as with anyone with common sense, you can't be tolerant of stupidity, of racism, of child abuse, of cruelty, of dangerous behavior, of abuse of women, etc., etc.! You say I'm intolerant, if YOU are "tolerant of EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY", it's YOU that is crazy! I would be surprised if even YOU are THAT stupid!

Yes I completely understand your perspective in regards to what you morally find tolerable or not, I understand that there are different degrees to which you are tolerant towards peoples views and intolerant to others views e.g. abuse of women.
This just proves that you are not tolerant to ALL people REGARDLESS of their views.

If so, then although it may be morally ethical to be intolerant of rapists, this just proves that you, like me, like ellen are not tolerant of people REGARDLESS of their views.
