I see that you mean. Of course, every person has to be individual, but I think that being theemo is often dangerous for a teenager’s health andparents’ nerve systems. I understand that the teen age is difficult period for young people, but it doesn’t mean that children must become some of the members of the emo subculture. They must try to solvetheir problems by other ways. I would not be so against being theemo if this subculture did not cause harm to teenagers. That is why I recommend for parents to be more careful with their children during their teen age and I have one good advice for teenagers: always think twice before doing something, which can hurt you because you have only one life.

I think everyone has the right to express themselves through a kind of way or form. Its just the same as any tradition passed down by our ancestors of different ethnics by our ancestry . The only difference between these two is that traditions are passed on hundred years ago and " Emo " culture is only recently brought up. So i don't think where the problem lies.

I do agree on this, "I think everyone has the right to express themselves through a kind of way or form.". Everyone is free to show who you are because that's your individuality.Emo culture is self-expression. There's nothing wrong of being emo. It's just that others see it wrong. It happen that their views doesn't meet with emo people. Just be yourself because later on they will understand and love your character.

everyone can choose to be or dress as they want, so why canny emo's just be themselves? i use to be emo. and only the hardcore poser "emo's" did something bad/suicidal and they gave the rest of the culture the bad name

Side: Yes

Everyone should have a way to express themselves. Last time I check this is a Country of democracy. There's no law banning the Emo culture, so people can be Emo all they want.

Being emo doesn't mean you're depressed or suicidal. It's short for emotional, which is NOT a bad thing. They have a different view of the world and that is completely acceptable, but in the society we live in it's not accepted to see the world through a unique set of eyes. We're all human, but we've been taught to suppress that to avoid standing out. The difference is emo people got sick of it and embrace what they have as humans.

I take the view that emo subculture is bad idea because I believe that being the emo is not a style for all life and it can be very dangerous.

The first argument, which a found when I analyzed this issue, is that being the emo is only one of the ways how teenagers can attract adults’ attention to them. Being the emo is not a serious decision of teenagers, but only their temporary life style. Sands (2010) in her article wrote that the second reason why young people chose to be the emo is fashion. Emo and other similar sub-cultures have become fashionable at present. There are a lot of popular Internet sites, which focus on the emo fashion and emo music. So after listening to this type of music and looking through emo clothes a lot of teenagers think that being the emo is their destination. Also, they think that by being the emo they can be an individual personality, but they only copy their favorite emo bands like Green Day and My Chemical Romance.

The second argument why I think that the emo culture can be very dangerous is that most emo kids are inclined to committing suicide. According to the article “Emo cult warning for parents”, written by Sands (2010), emos usually cut their hands and sometimes drink alcohol, especially girls. Emo kids usually have a sad mood and think that they have terrible fates. Also they think that nobody understands them and nobody can help them with their “global” problems, that is why they always think about death.

In conclusion, I am positive to write that teenagers, who are emo kids, are like children, who are always caprice and they do not want to become adults. They do not think what they are doing at present and about their future. They do not think about their parents, who worry about their children and want to help them, but do not know how.

But the most difficult situation happens when parents do not guess and notice what happens with their child. They do not know who an emo is and that is why there are a lot of accidents when emo kids found death by resorting to suicide. For example, did you hear about Hannah Bond? She was a girl, who hung herself because of quarrel with her mother. James Clench (2011) in his article“Suicide of Hannah, the secret 'emo'”wrote about his accident. Hannah Bond was 13 years old, when shekilled herself after entering a group of the self-harming "emo" cult in the Internet. “She had become an aficionado of the emo fad and she was a user of the internet, which enabled her to contact other emos all over the world, in particular America”, said Sykes (2008) in his article “Suicide of Hannah, the secret 'emo'” (p.4). Her parents were shocked because they did not know about it and did not notice that she had changed. They explained that her violent behavior occurred because of teen age and they did not imagine that it could happen.

Yes, Moldir, I support your views that emo culture has a bad effect on people's minds. Emo kids are known for this breed of self-destruction. Usually cutting is a cry for attention or even an attempt to look cool, as strange as that sounds. It is usually not synonymous with suicide attempts or even being suicidal, though these are not unheard of amongst emo kids as well, So I take the view, that it influence on children's character

I take the view that emo is bad idea, and it's not culture, it's a style. It is bad, because it impacts on people's psychology, and folloeing this type of style, people become strange.

It's bad because it's a self destructive coping mechanism and although it might lift the pressure and give some relief for a few seconds/maybe minutes, it's definitely not the right road to go down. Self harm masks the problems behind why you're feeling like you do, it's a way to escape it and that obviously isn't healthy because you need to deal with it.

You need to really try to work against cutting yourself, maybe when you feel overwhelmed etc focus on something else. Maybe have a bath, read a book, call some friends anything to take your mind of it.

I'll tell you what's wrong with it.

Emo is a style of music.

Emo is a style of clothing.

It should not be a type of person. Labels are demeaning to a person's personality. Everyone is much more that an 'emo' or a 'prep' or 'jock'. It's pointless. You would want to know as just an 'emo' forever? Why not be known for being intelligent? Strong? Or even revolutionary? Labels are for cans, not people.

if u look at it in this way...many teenage emos end up kiling themselves...many others end up in solitude...many others hurt themselves severely...if this thing spreads to all teenagers...chaos....destruction... disaster! though it may solve the over population problem (joking) but i think that emo culture is bad..leaves nothin good...i agree that teenagers havve to express themselves and be individuals..but if that means cuttin my self and hurtin my self then i would rather be nobody...

I'm fourteen, and in my opinion, being Emo is just low. What kind of look are you trying to put off? I observe these people everyday and all I see is some lowlife teen with bad hygine, peircings, unatureal hair colors and this look on their face like the whole world is out to get them. I see these kids locking themselves in their rooms and bawling for hours about why their life isnt worth living then cutting themselves. They look crazy to me.

Those people, who follow emo style, they care about nothing and their psychology is a little bit damaged. But, not all people who are emo are bad. Some of them just follow style of wearings.
