Even if you believe that global warming would be happening regardless of human influence, as I do, that's still global warming! But is it influenced by humans? Undoubtedly. The warming trend that Earth is undergoing is already warmer than it has ever been in the past, as core sample evaluations have proven. Zuh oh. Can't wait for 2012! Side: Yes, It is happening
Yes, I think the Earth is warming right now. But that doesn't mean it is only warming and it will never cool down again unless we change. I think this is a natural occurrence, since global temperatures go through warm ages and ice ages. No matter how much we may be speeding this up, I feel like the Earth will fix itself like it always has. Maybe that means a mass extinction- we're overdue for one by now anyway. The report found that only about half of the warming that occurred during a natural climate change 55 million years ago can be explained by excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. global warming is happening , carbon dioxide that is being released in the outer space is one of the reasons, the cars and factories from the earth releases a lot of this greenhouse gases, so what end up happening is the layer that is protecting the earth from heating up becomes more thicker and thicker, so when the sun rays reflects back towards the space there is more heat that is being captured around that protection and that heat goes back to the earth . This cause the atmospheric temperatures to rise and when it reaches this point the ice will eventually melt, and when the ice melts its causing the sea level to rise up because of the warmer temperature, and warmer temperature causes flooding in coastal areas and islands around the world, weather pattern could change, making hurricanes more frequent, severe droughts could become more common in warm areas, and species unable to adopt in these changes could cause an extinction. I'll say yes for one reason, the average temperature today is about 10 degrees cooler than it was 20 or so years ago. Wet weather has been lasting longer than usual in most places. If you live somewhere where it rains and snows often and all you want to look forward to is sunshine and dry weather for a split moment, then you're getting the lower end of the Global warming stick. But if you live somewhere in a desert where it's known to be 115 by now, we're getting a slight blessing since it's 10 cooler this year. So, yes, I think statistically, we are going through a "global warming" (although I think it's more like a global cooling), but I believe the issue is not that it's hotter than usual (because it's not), but that when it gets hot/warm out, it lasts til like damn November. Really, I'm just noticing longer hot weather and longer winters this past decade. And the longer it's warm out, the longer the ice caps get to melt and la la, so ya, it's true to a degree, but it is blown a little out of proportion by making it sound like we're going to die from it. At least, I don't think WE are going to. Maybe our greatx5 grandkids will though. Side: Yes, It is happening

What you stated is equivalent to saying that I sped up and slowed down my car at the same time. Global cooling is absolutely not happening, because global warming is happening. It's not necessarily the media that says that global warming is happening, so much as every major scientific institution in the entire world. The fact that a number of Republicans have chosen to deny science has nothing to do with the media. Let me break this down for you: 1. Our planet is currently warming faster then at any other point in recent history. 2. The primary cause of this warming is from Greenhouse gasses, the most common of which is CO2. 3. Humans activity has caused CO2 levels to rise much more than is natural. Jake there is no other valid explanation for global warming than that greenhouse gasses are causing an unnatural change in the climate. Let's not make this a political issue, even though it seems to have become one. The evidence points to global warming, yet for some reason many conservatives don't want to accept this. Perhaps it's because stopping global warming would require government intervention, and Republicans don't like that. Perhaps it's because it would hurt the oil companies. I don't know, and really I don't care. What I do know is that global warming, is happening, and that if we allow petty political arguments to get in the way of stopping it then our planet is seriously screwed. What I find most depressing about your argument is that you provide no evidence, and don't even mention the issue at hand. What you say can't even be considered a statement, but instead an implication that has very little (if anything at all) to do with the science of global warming. Side: Yes, It is happening

the world has been cooling since 1995 so how come global warming when people in power are asked about that they turn there backs on you and say you are a heritic a nonbeliver and i have emailed george bush and tony blair and al gore but he called me a trouble maker and banned me from his web page because i asked if the world has been cooling since 1995 how come we have global warming. also i have asked the prime minister of australia the same question and i have had no repy as of yet 8 weeks and still counting.like i said its all about power and money. please i will change my mind if someone can tell me if its getting colder how come global warming. take it away folks Side: No

You need to get your facts straight. The earth has not been cooling since 1995, in fact just the opposite. Here is a graph demonstrating the average global temperature for the past 150 years. Here is another one demonstrating the warming over a longer period of time. As you can see in both cases, the earth has been warming significantly in recent years. Side: Yes, It is happening

Seriously tugman? I thought you would have stopped arguing after I proved how ignorant you were on the subject. It may be getting warmer but it has nothing to do with us Wrong. Greenhouse gasses are playing a significant role in the earth's heating. What is producing the majority of these greenhouse gasses? Human activity such as the burning of fossil fuels. In addition, deforestation is exacerbating the problem because there are less trees to convert the CO2 into oxygen. it have to do with the fact we are coming out of an Ice Age Really? Take a look at this graph. I know that you're kinda thick, but even you should be able to see that the increase in temperature in recent years isn't just the result of us coming off of an ice age. Liberals are changing it to Climate Change so when it gets colder they won't seem stupid when it gets cooler. This is not a political issue. Whether it's liberals or conservatives or neither or both who support global warming has no bearing on the science. It wouldn't matter if it were the Nazi's who believed in global warming...or if they called it something completely different. None of that effects what is happening. Side: Yes, It is happening

why do you think its because of us? its been proven that volcanoes produce much more greenhouse gases than we do, scientists, contrary to popular myth,don't actually know a whole lot about our role in climate change. Besides all that, look back in the last couple hundred years; warmer than usual temperatures in the 1500s helped spread the black plague. In the 1300s, ice was seen in the Nile River. I think its obvious that the earth goes through climate change naturally and this whole global warming thing is really blown up. Side: No

Global warming is a silly idea, all one has to do is see the temperature trend in the past few hundred years to see the earth simply goes through climate cycles. Volcanoes put a lot more carbon dioxide and poisonous gas into the atmosphere then we do, and we seem to be doing fine, soo... Side: No
