Is Hawaii worth the trip from the East Coast?

Should I just go to the Caribbean?

Hawaii is definitely worth the trip. Each island has it's own peaceful air about them and there's something about the spirit there that you can't get anywhere else.

ahah. and there's an ABC store in every corner and ukulele music playing everywhere on certain islands.

other than the fact that both are islands with sand, sun and beaches, Hawaii is completely different from the Caribbean.

An overwhelming YES! That is if you go to Kauai. I did not enjoy Oahu that much, but the Garden Isle was incredible. The Na Pali coast is an amazing sight.

Hawaii and the Caribbean have a few basics in common; sand, water, beaches, and hotels. But they are vastly different! Depending on the Hawaiian island you choose you can find volcanoes, lava flows, BLACK sand beaches, mountain hiking, and Waimea canyon (a 10 mile long, 1 mile wide and 3500 foot deep canyon), and a vast range of cultures.

Hawaii is definitely worth the trip. Each island offers something different and Aloha airlines makes it fairly easy and inexpensive to day trip from one to another.

I've been to both multiple times and although the Caribbean is easier and usually less expensive to get to I would choose Hawaii and recommend at least one trip there for everyone!

@surfrican, you don't know what ur talking about. Hawaii has great food, scenic rainforest and volcanoes, every climate type in the world (just about), the most beautiful beaches ever and great people. The Caribbean (while still good for beaches and people) is flat, poor, dirty and some places have bad food.

Travel to any new location is a positive experience that outweighs most financial expenses. You learn about different types of people, different traditions, and different environments. It's hard to appreciate why people live a certain way if you don't see it first-hand. This applies to visiting Hawaii or Europe or the Far East or even just the other side of town. Of course, this doesn't mean you should neglect school, work, bills, or other important matters just to travel. Save up and do some serious price comparisons before spending anything. These are good skills to learn anyway.

I have been to Hawaii and it is a beautiful experience. The ocean is so blue and the scenery is great. Also, there are no snakes.

The Caribbean is just as beautiful and a lot closer. There is more culture there as well. Although Hawaii is a great place to visit (I had a great time when I was there for my honeymoon), it is not worth the $$ or the time when the Caribbean is so close.

Hawaii is incredibly overrated!! I went for my honeymoon and visited 6 of the islands. With teh exception of Kauai and Maui, the rest are dirty. The beaches are anything except spectacular and everything is incredibly expensive. The two things it does has that is out of ths world is friendly people and the Volcano. Bottom line: if looking for beaches, go to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica or CancĂșn. All are cheaper and much nicer/cleaner than Hawaii. Also, COsta Rica has an awesome volcano. CancĂșn also has the Mayan ruins, Xcaret and many otehr places that Hawaii does not.

Why go to Hawaii when you can go to BRIGHTON!!!!
