Is 'LOL' Overused?

Yes

I think LOL is great in many conTEXTs (and that has a double meaning... LOL) but I can never, ever think of it as something that could replace a genuine laughter in a conversation, which too many unfortunately think it can.

Yes it is being overused and it is being used a lot. In fact isn't proper language to use. I don't use it at all whenever someone texts me something I don't use lol. I usually say hahahaha.

I've seen people overuse it. Annoys me a great deal. If you use it, use it sparingly and only when it is justified.

| Side: Yes

LOL is soooo over used that I now use a smiley face because that is never over used. Not even by me ;)

| Side: Yes

'LOL' is overused.

People use it when they feel like it and in the most randomist of times.

Although the term means 'laugh out loud' people often use it,when nothing is actually funny.

Example;

"I'm bored!"

"LOL!"

and the word FUCK dont you feel that word is used way to much by people.

| Side: No

It is, but it's needed though. We say LOL if we have nothing to say, or if we actually do find something funny. It's not as stupid as YOLO so it's all good (y)

In my view, people overuse this abbreviation. Everytime and everywhere. Nowadays the real meaning of LOL is lost, because people can use it in unfunny situation, just to make the sentences shorter. I think that it is not good, and the reason is that people are making language lost.
