They have an interesting scoring system, but I do not see how Obama scores so high with it. The presidents were given rankings for six personal attributes (background, imagination, integrity, intelligence, luck and willingness to take risks) Background? How the fuck does that make a good president? Imagination? That's not necessarily a positive trait. Integrity? After campaigning as anti-Washington establishment he has used bribery to get his guys in position to win elections. Intelligence? What are we defining as intelligent? Sure, the guy can give a nice speech that pseudo-intellectuals love but other than that he has not done much to prove that he is a smart guy. Luck? That's not even in his control, but I'm sure he got the second lowest score aside from Lincoln. five forms of ability (compromising, executive, leadership, communication and overall), Compromising? No... not all his fault though. Executive? Not quite sure what they are looking for in this one. Leadership? Rallied the Democrats for his healthcare but his response to the oil spill has not received good ratings. Communication? If that is a euphemism for propaganda then he has done a great job, if it is not then he has done a terrible job. eight areas of accomplishment (economic, other domestic affairs, working with Congress, party leadership, Supreme Court appointments, executive branch appointments, avoiding mistakes and foreign policy) Economic? According to the future forecasts he fails. Other domestic affairs? Patriot Act is still around, terrible job with immigration, people hated his healthcare bill, Bp, Wall Street is now back to making billions while everyone else suffers. Party leadership? Sure, I'll give him this one. Executive Branch Appointments? Holder, Chu, Salazar, Geithner, Janet Napolitano, Lahood, and Duncan have all been failures. Supreme Court appointments? The "wise" Latina ended up being an ideologue cunt. foreign policy? Afghanistan is taking a turn for the worse, relations with Mexico are not too good, he was not able to get his point across at G-20, but leaving Iraq makes up for these. Side: NO, Liberal bias

Great Article. Cato Institute is awesome. My favorite is how FDR is constantly voted in the top 5, yet he exacerbated by Great Depression by large government spending by being architect of the welfare state, and jailer of more than 100,000 innocent Japanese-Americans. Also, academia's liberal bias skews the presidential rankings, to be sure, but it turns out that right-wing academics swoon for imperial presidents. Side: NO, Liberal bias
