There's a difference between using tax dollars to fund things that keep law and order and the government taking over the means of production nationwide. In countries with so called "socialized" healthcare, you still pay for it by getting raped on taxes, so it's just do you want to pre pay or pay at the desk, and as more migrants are imported, you pay even more to cover them too. If someone wants free healthcare, they are welcome to make a deal with the government and join the military. In reality, people in dire straights physically or economically are already on socialized healthcare through medicaid or medicare. Side: It's very AMERICAN

I see. Your making an argument for socialized health care. There are some things government should do because markets can’t. Healthcare isn’t one of them. The main reasons for our skyrocketing health care costs are insurance middle men coupled with massive government regulations which drive up overhead. Numerous family doctors are switching to Direct Primary Care, wherein they do not accept any insurance, public or private, and thus have significantly reduced overhead which allows them to provide health care services at affordable rates. Not only is government interference not needed, it needs to not be there. Side: It's very AMERICAN
(Relevant repost) The common counter argument against anti-socialist rhetoric is an overly broad application of the definition of socialism to include everything that is government. This broad application is applied to necessary government functions, which often cannot be reasonable privatized, in order to pretend that socialism is a necessary good. Of course this argument precedes arguments in favor of actual socialism. This bait and switch turns a defense of appropriate government into a defense of socialism (government ownership and administration of the means of production). Government and socialism are not synonymous. Side: It's very AMERICAN
