Is Santa Claus compatible with Christianity or not?

In promotion of Christ as the true reason for Christmas celebration sometimes Christians attack Santa Claus and presents as being anti-Christian.  What do you say?

The origin of Santa Claus is a long story.

Ultimately, though, it got its start as a Christian saint and got moved to the timing of Christmas to keep interest up among children. Plus Santa is a wholesome fellow and good influence on behavior. So I would say he is completely compatible with Christianity. That doesn't mean the birth of Jesus should be swept under the rug and forgotten, just that Santa has value in sharing the celebration date with Jesus.

Why is it the Progressive Left dislikes Christianity but embrace the Muslims ?

Side: Not

Christians say so many things. Here in Denmark some have a problem with the Christmas tree.. saying it goes against the first commandment (to not have other Gods)

Some people are just ridiculous.

No Christmas trees are a problem for christians in Denmark - generally speaking socialists aren't christian, and christians aren't socialists.

After all, you MUST have a good imagination to be a Christian. You MUST be able to take a "story" with no proof and make it seem real. Yes, you must "believe".

Santa Claus is about giving things to people. That goes completely against Christianity where things can only be taken from you. Santa Claus represents hope. Christianity crushes hope.

Santa is all mainly about the celebration. Songs, gifts etc but has nothing to do with the person(the reason for the celebration).

I don't even think christ would have entertained that white beared guy on his birthday.

There is nothing about santa in the bible. Christians have a reason to celebrate christ's birth but have no reason to believe in santa. It has zero network with actual christianiy.... Infact i never read christ celebrated his own birthday or by his disciple even after his departure.
