Is Theism a religion?

Is the simple belief that a God exists enough to be considered a religion, or is there more to it?

Yes, it is

Theism should be considered a religion. Why? Because non-believers often spend just as much time on (non)-religious activities as believers. Religion means believing in something. If believing in a god is considered a religion, believing there is no god is just as much of a religion.

Not knowing what the word Theism means shows you are lacking the qualifications to contribute.

I am trying to determine if simply believing a God exists counts as a religion.

Side: No, it isn't

If a lack of a belief that God doesn't exist is a religion, then it is one.

Well I am glad you are consistent but not putting any thought into doesn't help.

Side: No, it isn't

In my opinion, the simple belief in God would be a Religion.

I am glad you think that way. Since you are wrong on so many topics, it helps to show that a simple belief in a god is not a religion.

Just believing in God is not enough to constitute a religion. There has to be some sort of belief system as well.

That, and deities are not a universal component of religion anyway. This said, it is quite rare for an individual to have belief in a god or gods without having more aspects of the belief system in place. Not impossible but rare. One could be forgiven for assuming that if another person believes in a God, they are religious.

If there isn't a doctrine that involves certain rituals or practices then I woudn't refer to it as a religion. Theism, in practice, is a broad spectrum for beliefs in God, a god, a goddess, multiple gods or goddesses, etc. This beliefs doesn't inherently apply any rituals or practices, thus Theism isn't a religion.

Yep, that makes sense. I am still try to figure out what the people who believe Atheism is a religion think on this topic.

Atheism is a religion. The same way bald is a hair color and abstinence is a sex position.

theism is linked with god. (as far as i understand it).

religion whereas, is a system or beliefs, traditions and culture.

I agree. That's what I was thinking. Theism by itself doesn't include that and wouldn't be religion.

Side: No, it isn't

Theism is not a religion, anymore so than atheism, or pantheism, or polytheism, etc. While religions are typically connected to god belief, it is entirely possible to be religious and not theist (for example buddhist atheists, and believe it or not there are christian atheists), and it is possible to be theistic with no affiliation to religion.

One day people may figure that out.
