Is a path to legalization a path to taxation without representation?

Rather than a "path to citizenship", many are now saying there should only be a path to "legalization".
At the end of this path, does the immigrant pay taxes on income?
Do they have the right to vote?
If they have to pay taxes, but do not have the right to vote - have we created a class of people who have taxation without representation?

The Democrats represent them just fine, so they are getting plenty of representation.

Side: No

The keyword would be citizen; without that status, they should have no voting rights.

Yes. If you make an income, you pay taxes. Americans do it in foreign countries, foreigners do it here. Illegals should be no different and like foreigners, they can't vote.

"Like green card holders, if you spend at least 183 days in the United States and are a holder of a nonimmigrant visa, you must file your taxes using IRS Form 1040 by April 15th and pay taxes on all income earned in the United States."

by this notion I believe people with work visas pay taxes without the ability to vote.

this is fair.

You don't think there should be a difference between temporary workers and people here permanently?

it would be different if we weren't working in a global society.

consider that Chinese athletes that compete in games of any sort can pop over and do an event here then go home for six months for training. or really, any athlete can. does the week they spend here really give them all the rights to vote?

-(tanget)

I imagine that a voter should be invested in the nation they vote within. and as such, is someone who breaks laws to arrive here really invested? or are they inherently against the nation? that's the thing I resent about amnesty. and immigration. legal and legit is fine, but to give them any kindness when that's not the case just... NO!
