Is adding human genes to monkeys ethical?

When scientists in China added human genes to monkeys, they were hoping to gain a better understanding of how human brains develop. In the process, they triggered an ethical debate over research that some say blurs the line between humans and animals.

The scientists behind the new research, which was published March 27 in the journal National Science Review, say genetically altered monkeys can advance our understanding of brain development, which could lead to new treatments for autism and other developmental disorders.

Is forced human experimentation wrong? If so then is forced experimentation on partially human creatures not also wrong?

In addition, for every gene editing success there will be a multitude of deformed failures whose very existence is suffering.

What are your feelings on doing experiments on lesser lifeforms like insects, worms, etc?

I condone doing experiments on Bronto because insects and worms are still sentient beings, bronto is just a mindless biological robot that is programmed to repeat right wing propaganda.

It depends on what the experiment is and why it is being conducted. If the benefits outweigh the costs then I'm fine with it, though I wouldn't entirely discount the suffering of the insects in such an analysis.
