Is anyone really selfless?

Ever wonder how the same person can commit a seemingly selfless act of charity, and then a horribly selfish act of cruelty? Consider the behavior of people in simple economic games, behave strategically, and take advantage of the situation.

No one is selfless. I give to the poor and help those I see are in need. But I will burn down a drama queen with no mercy in a heartbeat. Is it right? Don't know, don't care.

Of course not. No one can be really selfless. You can think about the development of species. Every still-existing species has a strong ability of surviving, which requires an extreme 'selfishness' to grab anything beneficial to itselves. They can only be selfless when disaster falls onto their colony, which has been extinct on humanity

I don't think it's possible to be completely selfless. I adore my children, love them more than life and if I'm starving I'll still give them the food I made for myself and just eat the crumbs but dangit there are moments I want to myself, for me and only me.

A person can do things selflessly, that doesn't mean they won't from time to time want things selfishly. We all have an ego.

There's no way someone can be completely selfless. As some point or another a person is going to think of themselves first and put themselves before others without a doubt, no matter the situation
