Any thing is inherently a universal truth of it's own existence and everything that comes with that (it's properties).

Bradford is correct,

but he didn't mention that just because existence itself implies Universal Truths galore,

does not mean we know or could understand a single one of them.

And the center of everything is an Absolute, otherwise everything would be constant chaos,

our senses to some degree can filter at least some things and allow at least the illusion of order.

A Jesuit philosopher put forth a theory that on some level is correct, that we are actually incapable of creation in an of ourselves, no thought is original but a result of influences, timing, synapses in the brain, memories, etc, and with absolute knowledge one could trace every single thought to something observed.

This does not however mean that our observations are correct

in fact, the entire world could in Truth not even slightly resemble what we perceive,

but that we do perceive at all means that on some level Truth exists, and we may or may not ever have the capacity to know what it really is.

...er, I swear I'm not high right now.

You should have posted this under my argument because it just goes to verify what I've said, in more detail. You're on the right track though, which seems odd to say because we don't usually see eye to eye.

If you're high, like you swear you're not, I wonder if I have a mental problem that keeps me high all of the time. I only drink, or smoke cigs, never anything else... so if I'm high someone's poisoning me or I have a mental problem... but you're making sense to me finally. :)

The only universally true thing is mathematics. It would exist with or without us. Our entire world could be destroyed tomorrow, and mathematical truths would remain true. I cannot think of any other truth that would survive.

Most everything is a Universal Truth until that truth is shattered by more recent information.

Then it's not a universal truth. It's got to be universally, infinitely true. If it can change, it doesn't qualify.

There are no universal truths. We don't really need air to breathe. We can fly. Hunger is a figment of our imagination. Wait.... ;)

Well Joe is actually kind of right. I mean, I know he was being sarcastic, but the truth is we DON'T need these things anymore. These were universal truths at one point in time, but we have overcome them as our society has developed and we have explored our possibilities.

The reason I say no is that anything can be a universal truth until we overcome it and prove it wrong. It's like in math, it's easier to prove something false than it is to prove it true. At some point in time a universal truth may be perfectly valid, but at another point in time is may be completely false. It all depends on what happens in our future compared to how we lived our past.

Universal Truth never changes, our wisdom of it does. Humans cannot grasp Truth, so when we find that something is not the way that we thought it was, we are simply saying that our minds were not in accordance with Truth. So, our ideas were false, or our ideas seem true.

To be able to know something about anything, you would need more matter and energy than exists.
