Is blue for guys and pink for girls?

Well, that's the way they do it for newborn infants - no reason to change it now. How else can we distinguish between males and females if they both wear a neutral color?

I don't think these colors were picked at random.

I'm almost positive there is some reason beyond social that most guys aren't into pink, and most girls are.

Not that there's anything wrong with anyone liking whatever colors they like, but even if it weren't a social construct, I believe females generally would like pink, and males generally would not.

Girls tend to see colors better anyway though link

And I'm technically color blind (though the colors look fine to me, I always fail the eye doctor color tests)

So maybe chicks see something in pink that dudes don't.

What do you think the reason other than social is? And also are you trying to say that the majority of females in the world like pink and the majority of males in the world like blue? That is what I am getting from you when you say "females generally would like pink"

Side: No, that is stupid

No such stereotype in 2015. Genders are enabled to choose any colors they want.

I think it's stupid. If a girl likes blue and a guy likes pink, does that make them bad? No. There's no set colors for either sex. You just like what you like no matter what sex.

I beg to differ. It is socially set colours. If you ask a boy or girl of they'd wear pink or blue respectively, the boy is sure to say no, while the girl might say yes. You probably already know the reason why; while the opposite is not true for girls, wearing pink diminishes the boys masculinity, which is important as they grow up to gain friends. You wouldn't force your son into wearing pink, would you?

I never said that I would force my son into wearing pink. And i disagree. A lot of guys my age wear pink as a show of their masculinity. Pink isn't just a way to diminish it. It's also a way to show that you are, in fact, masculine enough to wear a color that supposibly makes you look like a weaker human being.

no that is completly stupid! and its very sexist!!!! ---------------------

That's stupid. Who said blue is for guys and pink is for girls? You. You and you only, not a law, not the universe, not anyone but our own twisted society and you. Blue is a color. It is something that we see. Why and how could you ever simply categorize it with a gender? It's just stupid. It's only a color. Not a label.

Gender roles suck.

Everyone is entitled to choose the color they favor. There is no distinct color for men or women. When has it been made that blue is a guys color and pink is a girls color. Even better yet, who? Absolutely no one. It's never been officially made that a specific gender has a color that distinguishes them from the other.
