Is competition in education is an obstacle in process of learning

I I believe that competition in learning is not good because competition puts students under pressurel which effect its learning process. It has been proved that a child give better result than child give after forcing.Through the competition only toppers are affected but what about the average doing studdent ??.For example, there are 40 students in class from which only 3 or 4 are affected but what about rest??.They got only failure. They are compared with intelligent and are mentally tortured.Competition brings comparison and comparison brings discouragement to child who has failed.Nowadays, parents motive of sending a child to school is changed ,first, they send their child to school to literate but now they send their child to earn good marks. If competition is healthy it may give good result but now nocompetition remains healthy which leave a negative effect on us. At last I want to say that competition is destructive, somtimes competiton pressure can drive people to cheating to get good results. Now I want your views THANK U.

Fundamentally, competition is innate to every living thing on the planet.

How does it make sense to spend nearly 2 decades teaching our children that "It's not a competition" up until the moment that they enter the workforce and/or university, when suddenly it is, in fact, a huge competition?

The way I see it, our role as parents is not to raise children- it is to raise adults. Understanding that we live in a competitive society seems pretty elementary to that.

You are correct in saying that their is pressure. However I do not agree with the idea that the pressure is bad. Life is a constant struggle, and pressure is always on. If anything the pressure of competition in schools will just begin to ready you for the pressures of competition in the real world.

I am disillusioned enough to see competition as a learned behavior, conditional upon several causal factors. We live in a world where resources are scarce in a system that thrives off scarcity. Abundance is against a system’s interest where scarcity creates power and wealth through the owning of resources, scarcity is often times created or imagined because of this. It is the environment coupled with our individual will to survive which creates this perception of competition.

Competition serves its purpose but it is not inborn, unchangeable or even necessary in most cases. As civilization progresses and technology becomes more efficient, as resources become more abundant, the need to compete for survival is reduced. Unfortunately this would also mean a relinquishment of power amongst those who control the allocation of resources.

Education is not something where competition should be necessary. Certainly it has its purpose in good fun, or motivation in some people, but the growth in intellect of an individual should not depend on whether they win or lose. A population of intelligent thinkers benefits the species more than a select few who’ve won their intelligence in a competitive struggle. Unfortunately this too is against the interest of those in power. A nation of people fighting over resources and credentialism is easier to control then a nation of critical thinkers able to come together and talk about how badly they’re getting fucked by the system.

What about one who lose, is it that they are losers for life just because they have lost just this once??. Think about all sects of people. Not all of them are talented in everything. Competition brings comparison & comparison bring discouragement to the child who has failed. This is certainly not what education should focus to bring about.

One thing I noticed while growing up, is that people are motivated by all sorts of things. While one child might say "aw I lost, time to give up and become a hobo" another kid might think, "I lost, I must try harder next time to never lose again".

What I mean by this is, your point that comparison brings discouragement, is only half true. Or not technically half but not entirely whole.
