I have the feeling that when most people refer to the USSR as Russia, they pretty much actually mean Russia. Russia was doing the things that were the most visible outside of the country. How much of a conflict was there between Latvia, Georgia, etc. and the USA. All of the conflict was just Russia.

I would have to disagree. What if Soviets refereed to the USA as just California, or New York? Wall street was essentially one of the main belligerents on behalf of the US in the Cold War. Furthermore, in the USSR, remember the massive Kazakh SSR. They contributed much to the Union.

Don't remember that, sorry. Was every country in the USSR standing together against America?

Out of all the exUSSSR countries, only Russia matters. So... Sure.

Side: Yes!

I think so. I think the Russish people want their country to be called, "Russia."

The USSR refers to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Russia was but one republic, and calling the USSR Russia leaves out other republics such as Georgia, Armenia, Latvia, et cetera
