Is it better to be loved or feared?

I've seen too many people say they it's best to combine the two..  It's time to settle this here.

How have you seen too many people doing anything here? You have 2 posts all time... Dupe account?

Niccolo Machiavelli answered this question in chapter 17 of "The Prince". See the short excerpt below:

I feel that respect and loyalty stems from a love, or perhaps a better term may be, a strong liking for someone.

People who have to instill fear in others to have them carry out their orders/duties usually find that their minions will defect or rebel at the first opportune moment.

A relationship which is founded on love and mutual respect will foster allegiance, honesty and trust.

Love requires more hard work than fear does but the devotion caused by love is greater. Less chance of being stabbed in the back when the opportunity arises.

You know, I kind of wish I was loved. I like sandwiches. Why can't they love me back?

How do you know the sandwich doesn't love you back. Maybe it does, and you just don't know it.

They sacrifice themselves for your pleasure, of course they love you!

Side: Love

Your right. Otherwise it would be the one eating me. I am such a fool.
