In class we read a poem. Somehow, she figured that the main character in the poem was in WW1. The entire poem was about some guy that ran track.

Haha, I agree. I remember one of my English teachers going on and on about whether Hamlet getting kidnapped by pirates was a desperate attempt to tie up an unraveling storyline. I mean really, who gives a shit?

THEY PUT TOO MUCH THOUGHT INTO THE FREAKING BOOK! MY TEACHER TOOK 2 FREAKING WEEKS TO READ 1 FREAKING 10 PAGE CHAPTER!!!
