It is far more important to communicate than to speak. Finding understanding by way of communication is the lynch pin of all beneficial progress by humanity. If or when there is no interest in being understood, or when the only interest is finding agreement or neutralizing different perspectives, opinions, or beliefs, communication and all benefit that rises from it is stymied. Side: I want others to understand.

Speaking, at its best, is just a form of communication, so anyone who values the latter values the former. Therefore I will have to say it is more important to communicate. Speaking isn't exclusively communicative either. It can in fact be quite vulgar, meaningless, ugly, unintelligible, and so on. Side: I want others to understand.
i agree... we could speak on somthing that is abusive or non sense at all,its not communicating at all.its anoying. communicating is information transmission that both sender and reciever understand each parties, communicative information. besides we are not all born psychic to guess what other people have in their minds. and theres createdebate to communicate. The gulf between some people is so large that communication is impossible. For example, do you really think you can have a reasonable conversation with a jihadist? I mean, do you think he can make you understand his point of view? Do you think you can make him understand yours? My assumption, of course, is that the reader is not a jihadist or jihadist sympathizer sob. Side: I like knowing I am heard.
