Is it now cool to be smart?
It seems like back in the day[before my time] it has always been that the smart straight A's kid was the un cool nerd[or maybe it's just a false cliche you only see in the movies]. But now a days it's seems the opposite. I think these days the smart kids are dominating the social class.
It's not cool to not give a crap anymore.
A lot of people seem to take pride in being kind of a nerd, or at least I do.
Those qorky glasses are even starting to get popular.

And then you turn off the TV because you realize that you've fallen asleep while watching Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and have a long day of work ahead of you... and the cool kids were still boning that one girl you jacked off to in the tenth grade. And it pisses you off. :D Side: No

LOOOLLOLOLOL!!! Where the f*ck do you go???!?! I went to an extremely prestigous (lol) school and even there nobody wanted to be with geeks. On average everybody was geekier than the general public, but not enough to be called geeks... because they always got bullied. Side: No

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett (probably), Mark Zuckerberg. All of them were nerds at school. Now all of them are billionaires, in charge of multi-national companies, as well as thousands of workers. The more you learn, the better you get at it. The better you are at learning, the quicker you can adapt. The quicker you can adapt to different situations, the more likelihood you have of succeeding. Yes, Nerd is the new cool. People with straight A's are becoming more popular and respecting. Side: yes

I think these days it's cool to be smart not only do you have a big future ahead of you (depending on how you put your brains to use) but girls find smart guys alot more attractive when they are smart well i do and i know alot of girls that do.. But not only that a smart woman is also very attractive girls that pretend to be dumb to get attention are tools. But all in all i'd agree it's cool to be smart.. but the glasses not so much.. It depends on where kids are in the socioeconomic scheme of things. While it may be cooler in upper middle class schools to get good grades nowadays (I wouldn't know) it seems like the old rules still apply elsewhere. I recently had a particularly depressing conversation with an 11-year-old girl in my neighborhood who told me that she didn't have any friends until she stopped trying to get good grades. Now kids hang out with her and she's happier. Side: No
