Is it possible to find true satisfaction in life?

Is it possible to reach a state where you are truly satisfied?

Yes, I think there is but I'm an optimist when it comes to this. We all have troubles but I believe we can all reach a stage of satisfaction in knowing you're doing a good job at work and getting paid fairly for it. Having a good marriage and great kids play into that as well. Even a wonderful hobby or sport can contribute to your satisfaction level if you're good at them. Not to forget, great friends are an example of a successful and satisfied person.

Yes it is. It may not be a permanent state, but it can last for the majority of your life.

The secret is to not look at the past or your mental projections of the future.

All you have is the present. And satisfaction can only come when you look at the present and accept it for what it is, and not wish it to be anything else other than what it is.

Even a troublesome present can yield joy if the pain is accepted and absorbed.

Have you ever had an ice cold beer on a hot summer day after a long day's work? ;)

Of course, I'm not sure many people make it to this state of mind but I am positive that it exists. I would be truly 100% satisfied with myself if I ever turned pro in tennis, now grant that I most likely never will but if I did that would accomplish my dream and therefore I would find myself truly satisfied.

And remember the glass is half full! ;)

I say no, and I will use money as an example. Let's say true satisfaction for someone is to earn one million dollars. they earn it over time. Are they then truly satisfied? Not really. If someone came up to him or her and offered them a million dollars more they wouldn't reject it. It then becomes circular because they will keep wanting more and more money and will not be truly satisfied.

Edit: Since some smart people out there want to prove my argument wrong, I will list my other one as well:

The only way to find true satisfaction in life (something that is of this world) is through religion (a supernatural entity). Religion (a supernatural entity) does not exist in life (something that is of this world); therefore it is impossible to find true satisfaction in life.

Your argument is severely flawed. If "true satisfaction" for that person were to earn $1M, then once they earned it they would be truly satisfied; they would have achieved their life's goal. If someone offered them more money they might take it, but not because they were dissatisfied. If, as you say, "the will keep wanting more and more money", then your initial premise was false--true satisfaction for them was not earning $1M, it was getting as wealthy as possible.

I didn't say it was an argument, I said it was an example. The main point I was trying to show is that money does not satisfy or bring happiness. You cannot find true satisfaction through material goods. You can only find true satisfaction through religion.

I'm never satisfied, as I know that there's always more no matter what. Therefore, if I could've done better, why hadn't I-etc.? If you're easily satisfied in your life, than you're bounding yourself with limits, which is the main obstacle in life, and it's negative for your experiences. Why allow blind happiness, if it's just to keep you away from digging for more (positively)?
