Is reality subjective or objective?
Many things we experience in life are certainly subjective. Whether something tastes good or not, whether these socks are too old to put back on, whether something is beautiful or not...
But reality itself. Is that subjective? Is the truth subjective? If there is more than one truth, if a person who believes in psychic powers feels they are real, are they real only to that person?
Or are they delusional, seeing things that aren't actually there? Same issue with God. You can have faith, but unless God only exists for some people and not others, then God must also be limited to objective truth.
If some people feel that reality is subjective, that what they experience is personal only to them, a sort of dream within reality, where their mind dictates what is true, then explain why you think that.
If you think that reality is objective, that everyone experieces the same truths, only their interpretation of it may be different, that the truth dictates what is true, then explain why you think that.

Its both. Regardless of what happens, there is an absolute reality. However, regardless of what happens, what we perceive may be different from what actually did happen. For example, if I throw a red ball out the window while wearing a black shirt a person might believe that it did not happen. Another person might believe that the ball was black and the shirt was red.... However, regardless of what we perceive to be reality, there is an objective truth. 323 days ago | Side: Reality is objective
For instance, someone may think for their entire lives that Killer Whales are actually whales as most people do, but Killer whales are actually dolphins. In that persons assumed reality, or Matrix, they would have "known" that the orca is a whale. This goes to show that there are millions of things that we think we know, therefore there is a reality we think we know. It is in fact both. 322 days ago | Side: Reality is objective
If reality was subjective, then how could anyone learn anything? If things existed because you acknowledged them then you would never see anything new, because nothing would happen. How would all of our realities be so similar if it were subjective? The world would be flat and the sun would revolve around the Earth, because there would be no way to learn otherwise. 322 days ago | Side: Reality is objective
Yes, but then why are their creationists and psychics? Although the Randi million dollar prize exists for proving the supernatural, and it's never been proven, I still know people who believe in that stuff, and claim there is proof, or that it exists without proof. Like "faith". That is a popular argument on here regarding religion. Although it proves nothing, they still claim it exists. How can a person explain that? 322 days ago | Side: Reality is subjective
Well considering there actually are a large amount of people who believe just that, reality is clearly subjective. What about schizophrenics or people with psychosis? Their reality is different from yours, as yours is different to mine. Also, you have no idea everyone else even exists, so how can you know their reality is similar? If reality was perfectly objective, we'd agree on everything. 322 days ago | Side: Reality is subjective
Agree on everything? Besides religion, and people who deny evolution, most people do agree that science generally works and that psychic generally doesn't. The supernatural has never been proved. Not one scrap of evidence exists that it is a working ability. If everything that happens happens the same for everyone, if I drop a glass of water, then everyone experiences every air particle that slowed it's descent, the gravity pulling it down, each drop of water that splashed and made each drop on the floor, and each shard of glass is the same shape to everyone, then I would say reality is objective. If someone says, "that didn't happen", they are either not looking, or they are making up a story. That's also why science works. Each theory is repeatable, and if you can't repeat it, it's probably not too good. 322 days ago | Side: Reality is objective
I think its objective, because even though we all have different jobs, family, partner .. sexuality .. I mean we all are different right? But we're all here on earth.. living on this planet. We wake up, some go to work some go to school.. some doen't even get up. We do our daily tasks and go to sleep - that's our reality. 320 days ago | Side: Reality is objective
