It was for me in the later years, that's why I quit high school at 16 and got a GED. I couldn't stand the repetitious nature of it. Plus, they make school too easy. I mean, you shouldn't be able to take two maths or science courses at once without a major headache, but wouldn't you know it, it's a cakewalk. I swear if they didn't just load you with homework I could take three of their maths classes and three of their science classes at the same time without breaking a sweat. I guess I got into a rant there, but my point is, classes need to be harder so that it doesn't feel like you're just existing in a room. Side: Yes it is

As it is, it is a waste of time. Elementary school is mere busy-work and virtually no-one leaves high-school with any more employable skills than they walked in with. Furthermore, the internet is quickly making the university system obsolete. The education system needs a dramatic up-hauling if it wishes to continue being relevant and useful. Side: Yes it is

Academia was never, until very recent years, considered job training. Even now, considering it job training is a joke. It's not about building employable skills; it's about learning how to learn. In effect, though this wasn't understood until more recently, it's about maximizing how much neuroplasticity is maintained after adolescence and into adulthood. The kids who do well in school also tend to do well (generally, not always) in their careers, as they are more able to learn new skills and adapt to changing conditions than those who do not. The gap is even wider between them and those who drop out early, even those who later get their GED (no offense to GED holders, and again, thats generally, not always) Obviously, the individual still needs to be suited to their career. It's not about what you learn. It's about learning period. Although the current education system in the US is very questionable in that regard, and could certainly be a lot better, it still gets statistically measurable results. Side: Yes it is

this thing called school is a bloody crap idea. the super smart specimen who created this crap is a bit too good you know. if siting in a room and answering 1 question writing a sentence and leaving five times a day five times a week is supposed to help you learn then I must be on another planet because this sounds like a bunch of crap to me. what do you think? this is bullcrap Side: Yes it is

How about u see it from me a 15 year olds point of view. Im a 9th grader who isn't good in math, animal science, history and many other topics in school and that seems to be a problem for me. School is a place where many dream are broken and thrown out, for example of u fail geometry and don't pass your grade then the school board or whoever is in charge has the balls to tell u your not eligible for the next grade, as in your not smart. But i am here to say me and math are like poop and sugar, we dont go together, just last week in math class i was a student who didnt do anything in class. not because i was lazy but because thats not for me. people say school helps u later on in life but thats only for a job. School dosnt teach u how to become a music producer, movie producer, game designer, fashion designer. school teaches you what it want and expects u to know instead of what u need to know. Does school teach u to lay bill, mow a lawn. Wash a car? No it teaches u how to get a job but not how to manage your life. School burns the creativity out of students in middle school and up. It turns u into a everyday worker instead of an everyday billionaire or millionaire. If u look up famous people i garuntee half of them d dropped out of high school. Not because they were bored but because their heart was in music or painting or dancing. School is for lawyers and cops and doctors. Basically your average everyday joe. Kids who want to be a music producer and make music like i would like too need a diff program because i go to school to come back gome and dream and work towards my carrer not to come home and study for 1 hour of my life spent on useless knowledge i will never use. So if u like school your carrier might require a high school diploma but mine dosnt. Side: Yes it is
u fail geometry and don't pass your grade then the school board or whoever is in charge has the balls to tell u your not eligible for the next grade, as in your not smart. It doesn't mean you're not smart, it just means you weren't dedicated enough to learn (which is the point of school). School dosnt teach u how to become a music producer, movie producer, game designer, fashion designer. Actually there are schools for those subjects. Public schools are meant to be a basic preparation for life. You wouldn't make it if you never went to school. School burns the creativity out of students in middle school and up. No, it doesn't. Other kids and teens are the ones that do it, school merely tries to teach. Kids who want to be a music producer and make music like i would like too need a diff program Yes, and there are specialized schools for those kind of things. Also, if you want to look mature, check your spelling and grammar. Side: NO way

Is high school teaching your teenager, or is it just wasting their time? High school is supposed to teach teenagers things that will get them ready for the adult life. If high school is supposed to get you ready for the adult life, then why do we learn certain topics that won’t necessarily do just that?
The high school curriculum includes teaching teenagers math, science, english, and history. The high school curriculum teaches students how to write an essay, understand computer graphs, and read, because, later in life you will need to know how to write a resume to get a job, or understand a graph to know what your income is. I understand that high school has to teach teenagers this for the SAT’s and your future life but, I find that some topics that high school students are taught won’t necessarily help them later in life. A lot things that high school teaches students will later help them in the future but, there certain topics that don’t seem like they will help you in the future. Some topics you learn in high school will play a tremendous role in your future and it would be very hard for someone to be very successful in the future without them. Knowing how to read is a basic skill everyone should but, reading some books like Shakespeare, won't necessarily help someone become a better reader. I think every high school student should have to read books in high school but, I think they should be the books that contribute most towards their educational growth. Every time you read a book you become a better reader but, reading unclear books won't necessarily help you. Reading five-hundred paged books that aren't worded clearly that high school students don't necessarily understand won’t help them. Reading these books will just cause high school students to stress-out about not understanding every other word and won’t contribute towards their growth. Knowing math will play a tremendous role in your future whether, you are doing taxes, calculating your income, or knowing how much to tip your waiter. However some math that high school students are taught won't necessarily help them. Math plays a big role in construction and finance but, some math doesn't apply to students who won't go into construction or finance. The fundamentals of math should be taught to high school students but, more advanced math shouldn't be taught until later in college when someone decides they want to major in a math related topic. The fundamentals of math should be taught in high school in order that if someone wants to major in a math related topic in college they will understand how math works but, advanced math doesn't seem like a necessary thing to be taught to high school students. In conclusion high school teaches students the basics that they will need in college but, some of what high schools are teaching students aren't necessarily the fundamentals for college. Some topics that high school teaches students aren’t necessarily going to help them, whether being now or later in college. High schools should reevaluate their curriculum, and what they are teaching students. Side: Yes it is

Is school a waste of time and money? Absolutely. I spent most of my life in school, obtaining every degree in higher education imaginable. Now I come to the miserable conclusion that all I've been doing by going to school is to keep the instructors collecting their salaries. It hasn't done anything for me financially, but it sure has for the teachers! Side: Yes it is

It isn't a waste of time. I know that it seems like it is; common things you hear are "when am I going to use this in the real world?" Ultimately though, the ability to learn is a learned ability as well; studying in various different fields, even if unrelated, helps build a flexible brain that is able to continue learning beyond adulthood. Neuroplasticity is at its highest during childhood; it tends to drop off significantly in late adolescence and further in adulthood. Educated individuals, compared to uneducated ones, retain far more plasticity in adulthood. This is vital in some fields, such as medicine and computers, as entering those fields is essentially committing yourself to be a student for life. In other fields, it may not be quite as important, but maintaining that ability to learn is useful no matter who you are. Side: NO way

Hello! My opinion is that school is a necessary element for the gradual knowledge of the world. No, it won't be a waste of time. But there is a nuance. Some schools try to cram too much learning into the school year. I am against this approach because it overloads the children's psyche. My kids often wanted extra help with their assignments there. I believe that this compensated well for the stress before the exams. I see what they like about school and I support their interest in learning. Side: NO way
