Is the NRA a cult?

I think so. Many members are fanatical in their belief, while they may not be devoted to a certain specific religion they are devoted to firearms and are often zealous in their ideals for "curing" the disease by arguing against ANY kind of control in favor of arming more citizens.

I will point out though that not all cults are inherently bad, but I do believe that many members of the NRA meet the kind of fanaticism one usually finds in most detrimental cults.

You also chose an example by Samantha B, who is notoriously Leftist and leans heavily on comedy. While she may say some interesting things she is by no means impartial and focuses more on humor. So what is your thought on it?

They do not worship there guns. All they do is protect our constitutional right to bear arms. And on top of the second amendment you also have the ninth. Which states that any right not stated in the previous amendments goes to the States. Which the United States as a whole said that we ( citizens) have the right to keep and bear arms. Which I am glad because if not I would have been shot and killed by an armed burglar trying to break into my house in the middle of the night.

A cult that promotes criminals being shot dead if they try to rape your daughter or child.

No, they are not a cult.

They think short-term in terms of solutions but they are certainly not a cult. They are very anti-cultist in their outlook and I respect them for that.

The definition of a cult goes like this:

cult

kəlt/Submit

noun

a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.

"the cult of St. Olaf"

a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.

"a network of Satan-worshiping cults"

synonyms: sect, denomination, group, movement, church, persuasion, body, faction

"a religious cult"

a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

"a cult of personality surrounding the leaders"

synonyms: obsession with, fixation on, mania for, passion for, idolization of, devotion to, worship of, veneration of

"the cult of eternal youth in Hollywood"

So I believe if you are looking at the strict dictionary definition that they are not a cult.

No. They have no sermons, no ideology, just a desire to not helplessly watch their daughter raped by a criminal who ignores gun laws.
