Is the contempt directed towards liberals or liberalism?
We have read of the beliefs integral to liberalism, and have, in passing, found little which we do not agree with. However, we observe a great deal of contempt being directed towards liberals, and find our discourse with them to be most distressing; we cannot stand those we have met or read of (we make a notable exception for the writings of our intellectual benefactor, Lord Thomas Babington Macaulay). So we ask, do you hate liberals or liberalism?

I don't really have a problem with Liberals. My main problem comes from Bleeding Heartism (if such a thing). In many ways, I am a Liberal. I don't like a lot of the ideals of Conservatism that just end up oppressing us as free people. If Liberals these days were more like the actual ideal of Liberalism, they wouldn't be so bad. Classical Liberalism, in a way, is where many of my beliefs stem from. But Liberals these days aren't that worried about Liberty and Freedom. Instead, they're more worried about political correctness and welfare. It's kind of sad that the ideology of rebellion and Liberty ended up becoming just another group of people who think that "government ought do something". Really, Liberals just ended up becoming Conservatives. Side: Liberals are idiots.

Many liberals want us to believe that they are diverse in their belief from the general concept of liberalism, Where's this then? but from personal experiences, this isn't true, so liberals as people are not bad, but their belief is, so it is liberalism. The belief in liberty and equal rights is bad? Ah, that explains your commitment to libertarianism. To answer the debate question, I think a lot of it is just misdirected anger. It's not that most people hate liberalism (in fact few seem to remember what it is any longer) but instead have come to dislike democrats (or some left leaning party in their country) and contemporary politics and so they identify liberalism as a kind of enemy by association. Most of us want equal rights, liberty, human rights, etc. Side: Angst
