Is the presidents FIRST obligation to obey the Constitution, or defend the count

Hello:

The presidents oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

This is a false dichotomy. Obeying the Constitution is how government protects the country from tyranny.

Side: Obey the Constitution

I believe it's the Armed Forces' first obligation to defend the country. The President should always obey the Constitution, as it is the Law of the Land.

If the country is not defended, the Constitution becomes a "piece of paper". That said, I don't think one is MORE IMPORTANT than the other. If you don't have the Constitution, you don't have a country worth defending.
