The young are mollycoddled by their parents. Their parents may be more tolerant of their bad behaviour as they do not spend enough time to discipline them. Alternatively, the young may be latch-key children and can easily boss their maids around. They live in rather privileged lives and take their services available to them for granted. In the past, they were few dual-income families and parents could spend more time to discipline their children. Hence, with lax standards of discipline, the young feel more emboldened to be ruder and do as they please. This is due to parents not being firm about their children exhibiting courteous. The younger generation these days are indeed ruder than the older generation in terms of attitude towards others. Studies have shown that neighbors were ignored by nearly 35 percent of the younger generation as compared to only 15 percent of the older generation (aged 55 and above). Towards people who that they come into contact with everyday, the younger generation do not bother greeting and there is no form of acknowledgement. As such, this shows that the younger generation are getting increasingly colder to one another. Side: Yes they are ruder

YES! The current generation is negatively affected by this modern age. for example, youngsters are picking up bad moral values and bad habits online such as vulgarities, ungracious acts etc. Living in a competitive world, it is no wonder that our younger generation are becoming more self-centered and are only concerned about themselves. This self-centered mentality is further re-enforced by society's view that they need to do well and become successful. Therefore, the younger generation is facing immense pressure to do well and to care only about themselves and thus, this leads to their self-centered thinking which makes them less gracious and ruder than the older generation. living in a competitive world will compel oneself to make decisions that will only benefit themselves in order to succeed and triumph over others. And the younger generation may even resort to ungracious means to succeed such as, not helping one another, being rude when working with each other etc. Although there is no direct link between competitiveness and rudeness, there is certainly no denying that it is indirectly a cause and a factor. The younger generation's not ruder than the older generation. It's not a fair judgment as our society has changed immensely since the times of our predecessors. In the past, there were more strong emphasis placed on abiding to certain social expectations such as respecting authority and etiquettes. For example, people were conservative and their culture demanded them to be respectful of authority and people . But as we near the 21st century, mindsets become less conservative, parents started treating their children like their peers, people have more platforms to offer their opinions and new technological gadgets were introduced. This changes the way people of the current generation view etiquettes. Today, most people will not see checking a message on their phone and neglecting their company an act of rudeness. This would definitely not be so for the older generation who were brought up differently. But the current generation has been brought up thinking that this is perfectly fine. The line that defines what is rude is no longer the same today. Side: No they are not ruder

No, we are not ruder. In the past you had to be seen as a certain social class and had to abide by rules to that you wouldn't be seen as a shame to society, your family, etc. Now that we dont have to pretend to be like the proper, voiceless children of the past and be ourselves, we might seem like we are ruder. But i assure you, we are not. We stand up for what we believe in, and adult and our elders don't agree with that because of the standards of when they were growing up and how they were raised.
