Is there a way to stop child abuse/neglect?
Is there a way to stop a mother from hitting her child or throwing things at her or like even saying mean things like "you were a mistake", "I hate you", "get out of my sight", etc. I know a person who is probably being extremely abused and it is getting to the point of extreme abuse. Recently this mother threw a plate at her daughters back and some of the shards got stuck in her back. This person has been punched, kicked, slapped, thrown around, slandered, neglected, etc. Is there a way to stop the abuse?

Yes, this is clearly a case for Social Services to be involved with. A child, left to fend for themselves in those kind of circumstances, is likely to grow up with some significant psychological/emotional issues and perpetuate a cycle of abuse/neglect into the next generation unless they have appropriate supports with which to develop resilience. Make the call. Side: Yes

Castrate the Men, and sew up the women. I think is what you would want to say. Though in general, I highly disagree with genital mutilation. As well, such a law would have to be extremely specific and refer to extreme, persistent, and intentional abuse. Off-hand comments in a moment of unguarded though ought not to be punished like that. I agree with the others, notify authorities if that sort of abuse is happening so the child can be taken away and put in a better home. Unfortunately however, there is no way to stop child abuse/neglect completely. It will always exist to some extent, somewhere in the world All we can do on the matter is minimize the extent of the damage and reduce the number of cases that occur. Only a society of perfect beings would be able to cease the cycle for good. Side: No
