Honestly no, and I do apologize if that seemed harsh. I try to live by the philosophy that there is no such thing as a dumb question. At least asking questions helps alleviate ignorance.

But I don't recall ever encountering anyone who would even have to ask that question. I have been surrounded most by people who highly value intelligence for my whole life.

As far as I'm concerned, ignorance is a squandering of what is probably our greatest talent as humans: the ability to gain information and use it to better ourselves (and, ideally, the world around us).

I know you believe in God and likely consider humans to be the chosen species, His favorite creations. Well, our brains are the way that we maintain our position as the most dominant and (for better or worse) influential creatures on the planet. Squandering our intellectual capabilities would be like insulting God and his greatest gift to us. Even as an atheist, I think its an insult to our species to promote or allow ignorance. To me, its like cutting of your thumbs: a stupid waste. So yeah, I'm passionately opposed to ignorance and I do believe all humans should be as well.
