Couple things..

I'm a LIBERAL - NOT a Democrat. They're NOT the same thing..

I was 17 back in '61 when the Navy sent me to Charleston, S.C. I knew NOTHING about politics or segregation... Secondly, I was from Denver.. We let black pee in the SAME place we pee'd..

I LOVED the south, and HATED it at the same time.. I first ran into blatant racism my very FIRST day on the bus to the base.. The front of the bus was full of white people. They were even standing in the isles.. Of course, the BACK of the bus was empty.. So, a little black girl got on and NONE of the white people moved and wouldn't let her get to the back.. So, she just stood there.. Then the white driver reached out and whacked that girl on the head and told her to get in the back where the niggers ride..

Shortly thereafter, I'm walking down the street, and I see a bunch of black people PROTESTING at the lunch counter INSIDE a Woolworth store.. They were protesting cause Woolworth wouldn't let 'em eat...

So, I jumped in, and STAYED in, and I'm STILL in. I COULDN'T believe what I was seeing.. I couldn't BELIEVE that one human being would treat another human being like that... Now, I didn't know if the racists were Democrats or Republicans.. I didn't care.. They were WRONG.. And, I was gonna RIGHT that wrong.

I'm STILL righting that wrong.. Isn't that a daisy?
