I may be wrong but I thought the Wiccan faith was about witchcraft. Maybe I am wrong but that's what I have heard.

It's a branch. You get witches who aren't Wiccans. But the definition of Wiccan is disputed all the time, it could be someone who follows the wiccan rede and practices withcraft, or someone who identifies themselves as wiccan. But there's loads of branches in Wicca. I don't believe in the threefold law so some Wiccans would say I'm not Wiccan.

Side: Yes

Oh okay my bad. So only some do and some others okay. I was wrong.

If it involves worshipping deities, I'd say it's a religion.

Magery and Sorcery are completely different things though.

Side: Yes

I don't know if technically so, but I do know Wicca is a religion based off of witchcraft like Lizzie said.

Yes, most people don't have a great understanding of the evolving religion of wicca. It's nature based where in most cases a coven is ment to find the name of their own god and goddess, their own symbols and there own practices while the core fundamentals of witchcraft is at the core. The most common goddess deity is named Diana, and she represents the lunar energies of the earth. Plants are commonly used for creating spells and effects which may not seem all that magical to the every day person but is by definition magic. The elements earth fire air and water are fundamental to understanding magic for all magic falls under one of these four elements. Magic based on intent and thoughts would be considered air magic and quantum science even supports that thoughts have effects on reality. A great example is the water crystal thought experiment. You can easily find it on youtube. It entails a Japanese researcher who would crystallize water droplets after giving them his intention and labeling them "Hitler" or "Love" for example and the crystals has shown that there may be a possibility that the intentions placed on the water before freezing had some effect on the crystals turn out. Just because the religion isnt named witchcraft doesn't mean that isn't what the religion is.

Side: Yes

Some people do refer to witchcraft as a religion. It is up to the mind of the believer.

It is related to certain religions, but it in and d itself is not a religion!

Witchcraft is a means to an end. It's not a religion in itself; although it can form part of the ritual of religion.

I think you're referring to an act of witchcraft, such as summoning, incantation, manipulation, etcetera, that can be done by anyone whether they call themselves a witch or not. I'm referring to a sustained 'hobby' if you like.

I think an argument could be made to say that prayer in any religion is a form of witchcraft. You do an incantation to make someone fall in love with you (hypothetically). As I understand it, your incantation is supposed to please or be accepted by some deity or something that agrees to make it all happen. It's the same in other religions. We pray for something to happen.

No it is not. Witchcraft is merely a practice within a religion, and it does not mean one can't practice it without following paganism, or Wicca. Its almost like saying you can't read the bible if you aren't Christian.

Side: No

No, it's a component of religion. Wicca is a religion.

Germanic/Norse paganism is a religion. Druidism is a religion.

Just like Hinduism, witchcraft is a group of religions, not a religion.

Your wrong. Witchcraft is a type of religion because it shares fundamental similarities between all covens and practices. They are a lot like the difference between roman Catholics and Christians. Same fundamental beliefs but, different ways of viewing it. Wicca is the core name behind all witchcraft weather it be dark magic, necromantic, green, or white. They all follow the same basic principals and call themselves something different. The religion is the witchcraft though and its more personal then it is indoctrinated.
