It's a bad idea to participate in political telephone surveys

I don't think enough people realize that political "research" groups are more about shaping public opinion, and framing the discussion than impartially gathering data.

I answer no surveys over the phone notwithstanding any claim that it's anonymous or otherwise. Because I have no idea for sure how or when my answers will be used or if my name can in any way be connected to any answers I may (but won't) give, I decline. My policy is that I don't answer my phone unless the caller's name (personal or business) shows up on my phone.

I actually don't think it is bad to participate in telephone surveys because there are limited ways to get your voice heard prior to an election. If you aren't sharing your voice/opinion on CreateDebate, you may not be sharing it at all!!!!

But the people who have funds to conduct this type of research, typically have an agenda they are trying to "collect data" to support. These surveys are not the impartial "data collection" activity they are presented as. Their true purpose is SHAPING public opinion through calling massive amounts of people and asking a battery of ever so carefully crafted "leading" questions.

I agree that there is "shaping" going on. But, if you don't respond, you won't be able to change the "shape" at all!
